Well, most people probably won't want to tell you that! But to start - it's not a bad idea to Ebay all your junk from around the house, then think about what you are interested in - a hobby? a sport? designer clothes? cake-making? sewing? knitting? web design? photography?- choose something you know about, something you know the value of and know people will be interested in, sell on Ebay and/or if you are creative, make something, sell it on Folksy or Etsy or your own website. if you have an eye for books - buy in charity shops and sell on Amazon - difficult though you need to know what will sell for much higher than you've paid for it!

Can I just ask, what are people finding works well? By working well I mean biggest profit.
Thanks
Welcome Darling...have to say if we knew the answer to your question we would all be doing it! I think the main thing I have found is that something different works for everyone...what suits one doesn't suit another, but we all help each other where we can!
Mrs Money - replied once and them comp crashed...aaarg! My site looks good purely thanks to Saucy, she very kindly made me a header and then sent me a choice of backgrounds. and using the layout oage and the edit/add gadget buttons it was actually really easy to add everything. SOrry Saucy explained it so well I found it easy I should say!Life is a work in progress0 -
Thanks for the people who mentioned they thought i was overpricing. I didnt want to underprice and lose money but by the same token i dont want to be regarded like marks and spencers, dear!
Well here i can buy 1 for £1.70, and 50 pieces of paper for £35 so if say i charged £5.50-£6 i could make about £4 profit each sold so not bad, maybe i was been greedy!:o:D2016 Money challenge - £2900 -
I've been thinking about your t-shirts Wayne! Have you thought about putting some of your tshirts into job lots of 8-10 and marketting them as hen night/stag night t-shirts? If you can get coloured ones, pink for the hen nights might go down well. Then sell single ones as well just for generic use?[STRIKE]Total debt 1.11.10 £23,446[/STRIKE]Save £6k in 2015 #129 £6121.66/£6000Save £6k in 2016 #39 £6000/£60000

Congratulations Yukki! (and Mr Yukki)
Welcome to all new posters. I hope it won't sound too unwelcoming if I gently point out that this thread is about sharing ideas and mutual support, so if you are going to take advantage of any ideas you find here, we'd appreciate it if you return the favour and give help and advice to others in return. This thread has been so successful for the simple reason that we bounce ideas off each other, solve other people's dilemmas, and come up with new suggestions that suit one another's strengths.0 -
Wayne I really think you need to do some market research as I don't want to lead you up a blind alley with my original idea.
Can you not get cheaper paper? tesco do 7 sheets for about 4.50 so 49 from them would be 31.50 and thats not even wholesale/ bulk buying.
It was an idea alongside your slogans idea etc but if in order to price it to sell you would not be making the profit margin you would be happy with then it probably isn't a goer for you.
If you got the stuff for 2.40 and sold for 6.00 thats 150%profit which is quite a lot. would you not be happy to reduce that margin a bit to make it more saleable and look at finding cheaper supplies too.
If you could get the supplies for 2.00 and sell for 4.00 thats 100% profit (or 4.50 to account for some fees) and more attractive price for parents like me. Adult ones I am sure could cost more as they are bigger and also may be doing something more serious/long lasting with but still you need to make it more attractive than just buying your own stuff to do it.
Don't want to rain on your parade but now is the time to hear this rather than when you've sunk lots into it.
Others may feel differently to me and thats why you should do some market research.
Maybe a small survey on survey monkey?

Not at all - 'tis a good thing to say!
Can I kick off by saying that anyone else who is thinking about doing some freelance tutoring/teaching, you're not necessarily better off teaching at home, however appealing that may seem, especially if you're teaching a musical instrument, and you have practice studios or similar to teach in nearby.
Not only can you claim the full studio hire back against tax, but you're not going to overrun on time as you might at home, with gossip, making coffee, etc. which leaves more time in the day for planning world domination...;)
It's worth doing a few quick sums first.Stage one - declutter
Stage two - sell the clutter
Stage three - turn the money into more money
Stage four - pat self on back

Well said Amber..... if only there was a quick and easy way for us all to make £10k eh? Mind you I think I am getting more from the support and friendships ...just as well as I have made hardly anything so far! Lots of ideas though, and hopefully I have helped a few tooLife is a work in progress0
