The 8 week anniversary of going to the FOS has passed, so was just about to send the paperwork back, but the insurers have finally contacted me saying that they are looking into PPI on a large scale and hope to get back to me soon.

Do you think I should just send it back to the FOS without a final answer, or give the insurers more time?

Its really up to you millwallpaul TBH. How long extra have they asked for? I know that once at FOS they stop communicating with you and will only communicate with FOS usually but this happened to me (the firm asked for another 4 weeks and I went straight to FOS) and it was another 14 months before anyone looked at it there.

It does however sound like the insurers are perhaps closer to making decisions (FOS were in talks with insurers about this last year!!) on what to do with these type complaints but you never know if they are just stalling for time.

Perhaps someone else will be along to give their view.

    Hi Marshallka

They say they have been actively discussing with the underwritters, FOS and external consultants to ensure they adopt the correct decision and have sought legal advice. They are currntly reviewing an extensive update from the underwritters, so I think it might be worth giving them a little extra time, so I can try to sort it out amicably with them rather than the FOS dealing with it, and possibly get into your senario where it takes ages to sort out.

Hello all, at the moment happy with my solicitors, very quick in replying to letters and answer the phone everytime. At the moment they are typing up a letter to send to lender and broker so will see what reply they get.
Will be interested in any news as to what happens to Watsons although I never dealt with them.

  • Hi all

It's been quiet on this thread, hope everyone is OK.

I have had enough of not being contacted and constantly ignored, so am sending it back to the FOS to hopefully sort out for me.

Fingers crossed for a swift positive outcome.

Hi There yes it does seem to have gone quiet. Mine has gone through the Solicitors Regulation Authority and I have been awarded compensation because of the way I have been treated. I will let you know when I get a figure. They are also being looked into because of regulatory issues.

I did not know you had been awarded compensation maxdp? At least you got something out of it then for all the waiting and still able to use FOS for the PPI too is good too as most people will have the option of.

I wonder what the outcome on Loancheck will be if we ever hear of them again that is. Its not like with Cartel whereby they took upfront fees off the clients. Its all gone quiet there too. Have not looked over at scam for some time. May have a look now.

Well done on your compensation win. :T

    Thanks Marshallka

Yes gone very quiet. Was surprised to about the compensation. I only complained so I could get my paperwork back really. The Legal Complaints Service award the compensation but the SRA look into irregularities. They have been very good at keeping us informed.
