  • Leters all sent now asking for clarification from Watsons that my contract is cancelled with no money owed and to Stokes saying thanks but no thanks and asking for all my information back.

Anymore help from all on how I progress now will be appreciated.

If you have decided to withdraw and if there are definately no fees then you can try via the insurer but you would need details of who the insurer was and maybe these will be in the documents sent back to you. I would wait first for clarification from Watsons etc that all is cancelled and take it from there unless you have the details yourself already?

Seems that the address of the solicitors and the address of the claims firm PPI claims 4 u (BK) are both registered at the same address so don't know if that is a plus for you here or a minus TBH.

I'm with you. I am not going to sign up with Stokes for my FirstPlus PPI reclaiming. I've made a decision I'm going it alone. We have all been messed about by these so called "companies". Loancheck, Watsons etc etc.

I now need help to reclaim with Ombudsman...

This case has been with loancheck since 2008! and has got nowhere.
I know I have a case as Loans.co.uk who sold me the loan and PPI were fined back in 2008/2009.

Spoke with the new solicitor yesterday. She actually seems to know what she is talking about. She said she worked with Watsons last year for 4 months and it was a mess, so she set up her own firm to take on consumer cases like these. When I had received the info in the post about her company (Stokes & Co) I panicked because it did seem that they were saying that I would have to pay all costs. After speaking to her thoughshe explained that by law they are required to send that info through but then explained the CFA and that the only circumstances I would be required to pay anything would be if a broke out of the contract or I went against my obligations in the contract ie if they said an offer given to me was the best I was going to get, so take it, then I decided I wanted to push further I would be liable for the costs. She was really helpful though and has actually answered my calls a few times already, that alone in my book is a winner!!!!!

Don't be fooled. I have the same letter and have seen that you need to pay success fee and they may take upto 75% of any payout you may receive. This particular "lady" told me they had been running for four years and were very experienced in the litigation of misselling PPI's etc. So why had she worked alongside Loancheck and Blacknight????

    This seems very odd.

A success fee is the fee they charge the bank if they win the case - it is not a charge to the client.

They are not allowed to charge 75% of your compensation - it's against their Law Society rules.

I think the poster may have mistyped it. That is why I was surprised??? Maybe more like 25% which is about what most charge.

If its 25% then that is what most claims companies charge anyway. Have you got your data back and checked you have not got charges from the previous solictor?

If you wish to complaint about your Solicitor you can write to them or there is a "Resolution Form" from the Law Society which you can fill in and send to them the link is http://www.legalcomplaints.org.uk/documents/resolution-form-nov09.pdf

You have to give the Solicitor 28 days to reply. If that does not resolve your complaint then you can complain to the address below in your own words
    Legal Complaints Service
    Victoria Court
    8 Dormer Place
    Leamington Spa
    Warwickshire
    CV32 5AE.

or you can use their complaints form linked here http://www.legalcomplaints.org.uk/documents/complaints_form_nov09.pdf

Make sure you send them a copy of the Resolution form that you sent to your Solicitor.

I would suggest you send all these recorded delivery.
