Loancheck/Watsons Solicitors

Have just been checking the Law Society web site for if I do not hear from Solicitors. Was looking at Compensation awards and found the following. I know it is not exactly the same as has been going on here but thought it interesting
Example 3
Mr D was involved in a cycling accident in which he suffered very serious injuries. He instructed solicitors to bring a personal injury claim against the owner of the land where the accident happened.
He agreed with the solicitors that he would fund his claim using a conditional fee agreement, which was supported by insurance that Mr D understood would cover all the costs if the claim was not successful.
The solicitors corresponded with the landowner. Both sides gathered evidence about the accident and surrounding circumstances. About a year later, after receiving new evidence from the landowner, the solicitors reconsidered Mr D's chances of success with his claim and advised him not to continue with it. This would mean Mr D would be responsible for all the costs up to that point. The landowner's costs were covered by the insurance but the cover was not enough to pay out for his own costs as well. Mr D had to find £40,000 from his own funds to pay the expenses run up by his own solicitors, including the cost of getting various expert reports and advice from a leading barrister.
Mr D was not happy that the solicitors hadn't explained to him that the insurance was not sufficient to cover all the costs involved. We decided that although the solicitors felt the insurance cover was adequate at the start, they should have reviewed it and advised Mr D as soon as it became clear that it may not be enough. We also agreed with Mr D that the solicitors should have asked about increasing the insurance cover earlier. By the time they did so it was clear that Mr D could not continue with his claim so it was too late to get extra insurance.
Mr D experienced considerable distress as a result of being faced with an unexpected and very large bill and we awarded £5,000 compensation. We did not reduce the costs as these arose from dealing with the case up to the point where new evidence showed that it was not worth pursuing further.:mad:0 -

If she has won a case it would have been through Loancheck and their solicitors and nothing to do with me.
I have only ever personally been involved in six cases. One with GE where the solicitor won a write off of £22,000 and closed the account. Three where I actually attended court on behalf of the client to successfully stave off repossession orders (AT no cost to the client, Natalie and Karen) and twice where letters outlining the issues prevailing on the account forced LLoyds TSB and First Plus to withdraw from repossession proceedings. (Again producing the documentation at no cost to the client, Natalie and Karen)
The rest have all been passed to solicitors to foul up.I am a former Broker, former IFA and former compliance officer, for my sins.
However, I have since seen the light.0 -

I was only asking if this was through Watsons cause this thread is giving Watsons a bad name up to yet. I was just feeling that if she had won one through them then surely it would be better to post up and give people some confidence back. I know this was posted some time ago but people are feeling let down as you can see and if ONE person has won it gives lots of hope to others. I was not getting at you petermb.0 -
I understand Karen but I am getting pretty sick of getting stick for things I had and have no control over whatsoever.I am a former Broker, former IFA and former compliance officer, for my sins.

Yes with Watsons (not with Peter) I meant it was Peter whom I went through to Watsons via Loancheck
It was not actually for me though none of these are for me personally but my business partner and OH. They got back their PPI plus other charges and interest. About £7000.00 or just under it did not go to court.
This was some while ago though. There have been a couple of others I remember on here about a year ago saying that they or a friend had won back money through Watsons.:mad:0 -

Was your OH charged any fees whatsoever? Did they have anything deducted from their compensation?I am a former Broker, former IFA and former compliance officer, for my sins.
