I've also been looking for the perfect cleanser and have being converted to the muslin cloth method thanks to a mini-sample Xmas gift of Liz Earle's Cleanse and Polish. However, I have decided that it really is too expensive and have tried various others without success (V expensive mistakes!)Since arriving back in the country from Oz at the end of last year I have had spots on my chin all the time. About two weeks ago I started using Santuary hot cloth cleanser and have had no spots since! Of course now I have typed this, i'm sure one will pop up tomorrow!
So perhaps try something like that? It is half price at the moment.
The hot cloths method is also known as Oil Cleansing Method.
You don't need expensive products, you can use more natural oils and even biological/top quality ones are not too expensive.
Big brands just add more addictives, for the Sanctuary one you can just copy their ingredients (Beeswax, Gold of pleasure oil, Chamomile, Hemp oil - not sure you actually need beeswax).

Weleda's Calendula Weather Protection cream is an excellent alternative for Elizabeth Arden's eight hour cream. I think the weleda product is around £4.50 for 30 ml.No toiletries challenge, started 18/1/2010 - Putting £1 in my savings jar for every item that I use up. Pot 1 to 4 = £261. Pot 5=£23

I go on holiday to Turkey in a week and a half and I reckon the price of some holiday essentials has doubled lol... this is my list, I want to get everything from one place if possible as otherwise petrol / p+p costs will undoubtedly negate the benefits of penny pinching... Oh and I love using own brands that work, so please suggest them if you know of any
)
I need:

I agree on this one, the oil cleansing method is a good one, and cheap! I deep cleanse once a week with a mix of castor oil and olive oil - 100ml bottles of each for less than £5 - will last for around a year with this amount.
For everyday I like to face wash with adzuki beans, ground to a powder and mixed with water - £0.99p for 500grams, lasts me for a month or two.
Everyday moisturiser of Jojoba Oil - around £3.00 for 100ml and lasts for a few months as I only need a few drops each day.
Works out to around £25.00 on skincare for the year.... and I'm a product fan with most things, I was using L'Occitaine & Origins before I tried this, and I find this is much better than any of the brands I've tried.
....now I just have to find a substitute for Ojon hair care, it's too fabulous but costing me a fortune!:eek:0 -

Do you grind your adzuki beans with a pestle and mortar? The BodyShop used to sell the powder years ago and I loved it, but then they stopped selling it. Dont you find that you can't get the powder "fine" enough?
I tried this for the first time tonight. I used a stick blender to chop the beans up very finely and then a pestle and mortar to grind them into a fine powder. I was very pleased with the results. Looks and smells like what I remember of the Body Shop product.0 -

Thanks for that-Adzuki beans are so hard-did it take you long and did your stick blender stand up to it well? Ive just thought-Ive got an electric coffee bean grinder that I use for grinding spices-I bet that would grind them quite well. Iwill give it a try.0 -
Apologies if this has been mentioned elsewhere, but Collection 2000 Liquid Eyeliner is fab and only £2.99. Loads of colours including sparkly and metallics. I applied mine at 8.15 am yesterday morning and took it off at 1am and it was still as good a new! (It comes off easily with Boot No 7 eye make remover, but not the L'Oreal one, for some reason). It's also easy to apply.0

This is one of my must haves, Boots essentials curl creme. It costs £1.29 for a large tub, and its great for creating curls, on wavy hair. I start to panic if I get low, its such a good product.0
