Thanks for that! :) I have Keratosis pilaris- which is an overproduction of keratin- which means I have lots of bumps on my upper arms and thighs, really annoying to get rid of! So will have to try that! I've actually been using scrub of your life on my body which has worked wonderfully.

Just bought Palmers Cocoa butter- UNSCENTED!- in Superdrug for £2.49 today, bargain! And got the new L'Oreal face wash with a "scrublet" as well as 3 botanics bits- eye make up remover, toner and moisturiser coming from Boots online that I ordered the other day, all for £16 inc. postage.

GOSH's highly rated eyeshadow base is £5 down from £6 in Superdrug, and I got a really nice eyeshadow brush in there for under £2, it's a QVS one, I've had a foundation brush from that range before and really liked it.

Collection 2000 "Hot looks" nail varnish in Button moon is GORGEOUS and under £3, or 2 for £3. and No.17 have 2 for £5 on their long lasting nail polishes, Superdrug have Rimmel 60 seconds nail varnishes @ £3.49 each or 2 for £5. Loads of nail varnish bargains around at the moment!

I have that thing you just said too, but in my face, so I have little bumbs all over called Millia. I use the face one, it doesnt get rid of them, but it stops them growing; according to beauticians, only actual removal of them will get rid because the keratin is so hard! xx

I also invested in the natural radiance balm, but just wanted to know, should this be applied before or after moisturiser? Thanks

Personally I always mix a little in with either my moisturiser or foundation depending on how much makeup I'm wearing that day!

I've been reading this thread since it was only about 2 pages and meaning to post ever since!! Most of what I would have recommended has already been mentioned, but there's a new range by Ruby & Millie coming to Superdrug soon called Crimson & Scarlett. Everything I saw in the article I read was under £5 and I would expect it to be good quality if it's made by R&M. It's aimed at teens, but the colours looked nice and if it's good I don't care! I've tried googling for more info but details are scarce so I think it's one to look out for!

Also, it's not quite sub-£5 but one of my tips would be if you like Lancome skincare try some of the L'oreal stuff. L'oreal own Lancome and just lately it seems like they might have been sharing info! I bought a night cream from the L'oreal Derma Genesis range in the autumn. One of the main active ingredients is something called Pro-Xylane. Not long after that I noticed the adverts for Lancome Absolue Precious Cells range - you've probably seen it, it's the fancy looking gold jar! One of the active ingredients from that is also Pro-Xylane. The L'oreal stuff costs £15ish (often on offer though), the Lancome £120!!! I've got no idea what that ingredient does/is, but it's an interesting point! Also, to my unscientific mind it seems that L'oreal Youth Code and Lancome Genifique are designed to work in a suspiciously similarly way, and were both 10yrs in the making!!! I love the Youth Code and wouldn't fancy paying an extra £35 for the Genifique.

That's all I can think of anyway. I've had to replace a few items of makeup and I've been inspired by this thread to make my first order from e.l.f. so I may have more soon!
  • , and their soft kajal eye kohl is a fantastic eyeliner; both are under £5.

I meant to ask when I posted before, can anyone recomend a really good sub-£5 eyebrow pencil? I used to use a lovely one by Pout which was the only one I'd ever used, but Pout have closed, and my finances aren't as good as they once were!! I've tried the Rimmel one but not impressed! Thanks.

Hey there, Scarlett and Crimson seems ok, I got a gift set for Christmas from Boots. In it I got a clear Mascara, Highlighter, 2 Eye Shadows, couple of glosses and a keyring. Its nice enough, but not of the standard I've come to expect from Ruby and Millie.

A really good way to get the stuff you love cheap though is to buy gift sets in Boots 3 for 2, or in January when everything usually goes to half price. 9/10 times you get slightly smaller but more range of products for half the price. I love it! :) x

Avon Glimmersticks for Brows - 99p on offer regularly, sometimes a little more expensive. I use the blonde coloured one and I am pretty mousy but I find that dark enough for me. Because it's so soft like the other glimmersticks application is very easy and results are very natural... Hope that helps x

Part of the Furniture 1,000 Posts Name Dropper Combo Breaker
Best one I've found is Barbara Daly's in Tesco. Lovely and soft (can use as an eyeliner too). I got a rather nice L'Oreal eyeliner crayon - very slim - at T.J. Hughes last week - for £1. That could also be used for eyebrows.
    Normal people worry me.

Here are 2 brilliant products for under £5 that I have recently discovered.

After having had allergic reactions to mascaras in the past, I have always bought really expensive ones, i.e £20+. One day in Boots I looked at their Natural Collection mascaras for £1.99 and decided to give them a go and what a brilliant mascara. Non clogging, lengthening and separates the lashes superbly. One of the best mascaras I have bought. A real bargain.

Recently bought Lacura conditioning hand cream in Aldi for 75 p, brilliant bargain too. I have really dry hands but this really moisturises my hands.
No toiletries challenge, started 18/1/2010 - Putting £1 in my savings jar for every item that I use up. Pot 1 to 4 = £261. Pot 5=£23
    Boots points:£39.21. Extra money in 2012:£674.59. In 2013 £603.48. 2014: £85. 2015: £0 :j

Suddenly I'm not quite as excited at the prospect of Scarlett & Crimson! Ah well, guess they can't do everything good!? Good idea to try Boots when all the sets are reduced, I always forget to do that! January sales are also a good time to stock up in Lush. Last year I think I got about £80 worth of stuff for £30. I didn't have to revisit Lush till the summer!

Superdrug are bringing out a colour cosmetic range where everything is £1. At that price the only cheaper option is shop lifting.

I don't know how good they are going to be, but at that price I think they would be worth giving a try.
