I am a lip balm addict and I normally use expensive ones, like a fiver up over, but recently I was re-acquainted with Soft Lips Mentholatum (pink and white tube) which has Vitamins A, B2, C and E in it, plus it's Less than £1.50 and doesnt do that nasty clinging rather than absorbing thing that some do. Its lush! xx

Aldi do a great serum for £4.99, it's called Nature or Naturals or something like that, comes in nice glass bottle in white packaging. Smells lovely and goes on really smooth, just as good as Olay or the others.
  • Superdrug are currently selling a new Garnier under-eye rollerball with a concealer, at an introductory price. Maybe this will compare with YSL Touche Eclat?!?

Today I bought Superdrug's own under-eye anti-wrinkle cream - 'Optimum: line decrease' for £3.25...half price!!!! They have a lot of products half price at the mo.

    My personal recommendations are:
Superdrug - Clarity skin defence shine control paper. About £1.20 for a little booklet.
E.L.F lip plumping lip gloss, £1.50, sometimes the site has free-postage days.
Aqueous cream...£1.08 from Sainsbury's, has worked better than any fancy foot cream on the dry skin on my feet!

Simple's face wipes are £2.99 for a pack of 25 and are possibly the best I've ever used - they shift make-up really easily but don't dry your skin out.

But don't you think Simple baby wipes do the very same job? (Usually only £1 something.)

OK, not exactly a beauty buy but definitely under £5.

I was spending a fortune on Eve Lom cleanser, I have combination/spot-prone skin and it was about the only thing that didn't bring me out in spots or dry my skin horribly (giving me even more spots).

For the last two years I've been using a mixture of Olive Oil and Castor Oil as cleanser and moisturiser, and my skin has never been healthier. (I know it's counter-intuitive, but castor oil actually makes your skin less greasy. If you use too much you'll wind up with dry patches, which was what happened to me until I got the quantities right for my skin!)

The Castor Oil I get from the chemist for a couple of quid (lasts me a good few months), the Olive oil is from my kitchen cupboard. :)

Google for OCM or "oil cleansing method" for more info, there's lots been written on the topic.

Thanks for the tip - sounds similar to using Lush Ultrabland. Much cheaper though!

Talking about toners, Witch Hazel water is the best astringent I've ever tried. I'll put some tea tree oil in it later :) I've used Clinique 3 step for almost 20 years - I know it's more than £5 but it works out cheaper than a lot of cheap brands and prevents my skin from scaring small children lol! I now substitute their toner for Witch Hazel water and really don't notice any difference, I'm happier knowing it's not got any additives though, and it works out cheaper.

Definitely agree about the toner. (And thanks for all the other tips! Will definitely try out the cocoa butter tricks!) I'm currently using a spray water bottle with a few drops of tea tree oil; sometimes I use lavender oil - started doing this after I bought Lush Eau-Roma Water and noticed the ingredients were water, rose, lavender...

Does anyone remember a tv consumer programme doing a price comparison item,a year or two ago(sorry!) on how one of the "cheapie" supermarkets (it was either Lidl or Aldi) had an own brand Anti-ageing type face cream which was found to perform better than any of the £70 Lancome or Clarins type high end creams!?! (Apparently there were funny stories of Aldi Forecourts being swamped with ladies parking up in their Range Rovers the next day, trying to track down the cream!!) I'm not sure if it was true, or which supermarket did it...but I always meant to get some, and this "under £5 beauty forum" just reminded me of it! Can anyone help? If they still do it, I will definitely beat my way there&try it out!! Thanks
it was aldi, but i much prefer lidil isserre range.i use the foaming face wash, night and day cream.they have a few variations i have tried them all.all for only a couple of quid each.
