Rimmel kohl liners are great for smudging - I've had mine since my own emo days and it's still going strong! Barry M do good kohl pencils in a range of colours too.0 -
Stargazer aren't normally pricey at all, and they're dirt cheap too. Very gothy/alt in nature!
As for me, I love the pure wipes from Poundland too (the feminine ones are fantastic too), oh and I love the tesco value handwash! Orangy but still anti-bac, and 30-odd p!
I do personally love YSL touche eclat, and I wish I could find a good equivalent product at a lower pricepoint!
Oh, and I also think barry m dazzle dusts (though they need a base like UDPP, which granted is pricier but lasts forever and saves on bad looking eyeshadow and reapplication too!) rock!On the up

Makeup, especially eye make up, should be replaced regularly as bacteria can fester. Good article here on when to replace different makeup:

2True mascara from Superdrug, £1.95 or 3 for £5!!!! Never flakes and has a great range of colours. Best mascara I've ever tried (except Hypnose and it's 10 times the price!).
Which one do you use? There seem to be 3 different 2True ones - a lengthening mascara, a volumising one and a waterproof one.0 -
OK, not exactly a beauty buy but definitely under £5.
I was spending a fortune on Eve Lom cleanser, I have combination/spot-prone skin and it was about the only thing that didn't bring me out in spots or dry my skin horribly (giving me even more spots).
For the last two years I've been using a mixture of Olive Oil and Castor Oil as cleanser and moisturiser, and my skin has never been healthier. (I know it's counter-intuitive, but castor oil actually makes your skin less greasy. If you use too much you'll wind up with dry patches, which was what happened to me until I got the quantities right for my skin!)
The Castor Oil I get from the chemist for a couple of quid (lasts me a good few months), the Olive oil is from my kitchen cupboard.
Google for OCM or "oil cleansing method" for more info, there's lots been written on the topic.
Thanks for pointing this out - I was just having a quick browse and now have got totally sidetracked reading about OCM! I just wondered, do you do this every day or less, as I have been reading that it can dry your skin if you use it too much. And if you don't use it every day, what do you use the other days? I have dry flaky and blemished skin which is also sensitive and have been using Clinique 3step on and off but skin is still dry. I really struggle to find the best combination of products for my skin.0 -

Sleek eyeshadow palettes, cannot be beat for pigmentation
Can go one better, Wilko do a range of Vitamin E, their facial wipes remove make up, dont dry your skin and best of all, you only use one to remove stubborn mascara, foundation, et al meaning they last for weeks! They are a tiny 27p, which is a penny cheaper than Tesco...
As my old man says, look after the pennies and the pounds will look after themselves. xxx0 -
Love Clarins 'Beauty Flash Balm' but want something cheaper.....read on...
Years ago, I read a review of expensive vs cheap alternative facial products. I used to use Clarins Beauty Flash Balm but couldn't afford the price tag so I was interested to read that Superdrug did something similar but way more cheaper.
It's called NATURALHIGH RADIANCE BALM and it is approx £4. Smells gorgeous and I think it does the same job as the expensive Clarins Flash Balm.
Hope this helps someone.
I used this a lot when I was younger and found it to be brilliant!0 -
vaseline is so cheap and so versatile. A small pot costs just over £1 and lasts me months.
use it as a lipbalm, on it's own, or over or under lipstick.
use on cheekbones and brow bones for a dewy glow
use to keep unruly eyebrows in place.
great for small areas of dry skin
even works as a great nappy/barrier cream
Knew it would be on here already! (Probably on a millions times!) It's brilliant. The best £1-ish you will ever spend. I find the cheapest place is Bodycare (about 69p for the plain blue tin and I also get the pink-tinted 'rose' tin for my lips which is about £1.19 - £2 in Boots!) :j0
