And my purple cauliflower is growing at a most impressive rate of knots. The chillies & beetroot have done well, and the toms look ok, but if I can just grow one nice big cauliflower, I shall consider the season a success. I'm on my third lot of radishes too.
I think it is the rain that has helped. Some of my beans have changed colour, & I am going to have to harvest them. I'm really pleased with them.:)
Your tomatoes appear well. I have 1 plant that is taller than I am! Most of the fruit so far is at the very early stages, but I am noticing a lot more of it on the plants. I'm trying to stop myself from over-watering them at the mo.
More brocolli florets are showing - I'll need to harvest those at the weekend!

Well, after getting blackleg in the first of my two bags of spuds, forcing a premature digging up, I wasn't especially hopeful of my second bag. The first lot were fiddlin' & small, and there weren't too many of them.
The second bag, however, was a bit more productive!
That there's 6lb 1½oz of your finest Maris Peer. :j
I'm well chuffed with that lot - much more than I expected, and of a proper size too!If you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.0 -
So when do we get a new recipe challenge using your home grown ingredients? Have just read the whole of your cooking index over on Os best entertainment i've had in a long while, please keep up the good work :beer:Sometimes not moving backwards is as much an achievement as moving forwards is on other times. It's only a bargain if you were going to buy it anyway!0 -

Got a bit of a problem with my cauliflower:
The curd formation on this one is all wrong:
So, any idea why, and can I still eat it? I can't see why there should be a problem, as this one's perfect:
And they're in the same bed, so conditions should be pretty similar. If you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.0 -
No idea re the collies Mr BE.
My toms appear to be doing ok. I'm harvesting a courgette or 2 every night!
I have harvested some beans, but they have slowed down... some of the beans haven't looked right to be honest - little worried. I'm hoping the rain fixes that.
More brocolli harvested today. Sprouts coming along well.
I am particularly proud of my cucumbers! Last year, they weren't too good. This year, they're phenomenal! 2-3 times the size of last year (I have planted them out, rather than leave them in pots). I'm wondering when to pick them. The plants still have many flowers on...It's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.0 -
More tomato problems.
I don't think it's blight, I think it's powdery mildew:
It has been a bit humid in the greenhouse, with lots of plants touching the walls & roof. It appears to be spreading by contact, to fruit, leaves and stems. I've removed all the diseased parts and opened up the greenhouse more to allow better air circulation. Time will tell if that solves the problem or not.
On the plus side, I have now harvested some of each variety:If you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.0 -
The "blown" cauliflower has gone into the freezer and will end up in soup. The good one, which I am particularly delighted with, was very nice in my cauliflower cheese this evening. Plus, it was so big I only used half. It was about 2lb 10 oz with bits of the leaves still on:If you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.0

I must admit, my tomato plants don't look as healthy as I remember from last year. I'm hoping they will be ok. They all have some fruit on. I've had them outside most of the "summer".
The cucumbers I planted out are going great guns. The beans have slowed down a little - wondering if there is a problem there...
The brocolli is great though! A fair amount in the freezer!
Oh, & I'm getting fed up of courgettes...:oIt's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.0
