I have flowers appearing on the cucumber plants which I planted out not too long ago. :j

& I was suprised (& delighted) to see my first tomatoes on my plants! :j

<pops by for another tidy up for MrBE>

Hope you're enjoying the holiday fella!

There has been minimal rain since you went away - I hope someone is watering for you. There have been some showers during the nights (but only once or twice so far...)

Following my brocolli harvest a week or 2 ago, I was delighted to notice what I suspect are new florets appearing on the plants!:j

I have had to restrengthen my bean frame, & have noticed a couple of small beans appearing!

My sprouts are doing well, & coming along nicely...

    Courgettes are also doing well.

I have had to re-tie my cucumbers, as since planting them out they have grown. I am looking forward to them turning out well. Last year wasn't so good for cucumbers. This year there are a lot of flowers, so I am hopeful...:)

Lawns will need mowing soon - I keep putting it off as the weather forecasts showers which never appear!

Your garden become so overgrown with the rain you can't come back Mr BE?

    I have been eating courgettes.

    Yum!

The brocolli is glorious, so green & so much flavour!

No. I'm too miserable to post. Got back to find that a large amount of the tomatoes in my greenhouse have blossom end rot, and my best Purple Venezuelan chilli plant was infested with some sort of caterpillar, which has eaten into the growing tips and destroyed a lot of the fruit. I think I've got them all now, but I've had to prune the worst bits and I'll have to wait and see if the rest recovers. :(

I've picked about 1½lb of green tomatoes with BER. I'm gutted, especially because the first orange bananas were ripe, but I've lost a lot. Some of the fruit were shrivelled too, which would suggest to me that they weren't adequately watered whilst I was away. :(

I'll post up some more pics when I'm less depressed. :(

Thanks for looking after my thread though jelly, it seems in quite good nick. :D

MrBe my heart goes out to you, I'm dreading going on Hols and having to rely on friends etc to water and tend my plants both in the Garden and on the Allotment.

Everything doing well so far, we've had a load of Peas and beans which were yummy. We've had salad leaves, radishes etc. Had so much fruit, raspberries, tayberries, blackcurrants etc so I've made more jam than I've ever made before and also made Blackcurrant Ice-cream, used some Blackcurrants in a crumble and some of the Raspberries in a Pavlova and still got Gooseberries to pick. Tomatoes coming along well, courgettes, aubergines and cucumbers doing ok so fingers crossed. Been windy here today so going to move Peppers to a more sheltered position.

    Good luck everyone.;)

I'm so gutted about the chilli. It was beautiful before I went away. :(

I also had the opportunity to check out mrbadexample snr's kumatoes that I gave him earlier in the year. He's better at it than me:

Left, my dad's. Right, one I bought from a shop in France.

Predictably, dad's was better. Sweeter, with a much thinner skin. :)

I have to keep reminding myself that it's not all bad:

White beetroot, turnips, two varieties of carrot and some spring onions. Plenty more where that came from too. :j
