Whish more people would put these intimdating idiots in thier place. Then maybe it wouldn't be such an issue to need put your bag on the seat to stop one sitting next to you as they would be polite in fear of a headbutt....0

Would be nice if that was the police.......but who would they arrest....0

I used to use trains quite a lot,London Midland and cross country.
The London Midland train i used to take from Northampton to Coventry, and there was always room on the outbound and return journey, never a problem to get a seat.
Cross country from Coventry to Leamington spa was always packed,no matter what time of day you travelled, and it used to rankle me no end when you see people with bags on other things including feet on empty seats and people were standing in the isles.
It used to make me wander why do they still stand and not approach and ask them to remove there items,i used to.
Here is a little tip,if when the train pulls in and it is full and your journey is quite long,as you boardd the train feign a big limp, make it look like you are pain....someone will usually give up there seat for you.Forum spellcheckers are the pitts.0 -

I totally agree with what you are saying but the sad fact is that to challenge anyone committing a crime nowadays can place you at serious risk of injury or death at the hands of the perpetrators.
How many accounts have you read about people being run down by their own cars when some scumbag is stealing it and they try to stop them.
How many accounts have you read about blokes being kicked to death for asking scumbags to stop harrassing their girlfriends?
I don't want "the dogsh*t, crushed cigarette ends, old chewing gum and other debris transferred from the bottom of someone's shoe onto clothes that I have washed, ironed and generally cared for" either - but I want a knife in my ribs even less.
So, I'll continue keeping quiet about feet on public transport seats and maybe save my outrage at the degeneration of society until I see something happening that I really feel worth risking my life for.
It's a sad indictment of society, but it's where we are.
I have an idea on how this could be solved.
The police employ various 'weedy' looking people. They go on buses and trains (with hidden video cameras and radio links) and whenever there is any anti-social behaviour they challenge it by saying politely "I'm sorry. Could you please not do that?" If they get any form of aggressive response the police come on, arrest the agressor, take them to court and they go to prison.
We talk a lot about the war on terror. What about a war on the agressive anti-social?0 -
The zero tolerance idea worked in New York. The non-tolerance of the small anti-social things led directly to a big fall in the murder rate there.

We shouldn't be prepared to turn a blind eye to the every day anti-social stuff like feet on seats and smoking in non-smoking places."If you think it's expensive to hire a professional to do the job, wait until you hire an amateur." -- Red Adair0 -

I would have agreed with you until a man sat next to me and started telling me about how he was a Time Lord, and he had a curse on him that if he didn't let pretty ladies on the bus before him his ears grew to be huge, and he could go and bargain with the queen of the planet that put the curse on him, but his Tardis doesn't travel fast enough to get there, and he'd need the engine from a BMW but he couldn't afford it.....
I really really wish I was joking . The thing is, he spouted off names and space terminology so easily without thinking about it that he was either completely off his rocker and he'd told people this so many times it was perfectly rehearsed, or he was actually telling the truth  :rotfl:D'you know, in 900 years of space and time, I've never met anyone who wasn't importantTaste The Rainbow :heartsmil0 -
The Police came and questioned me last night, turned out that the guy had to go to A & E to fix his nose.
I told them just what happened. They said not to worry, both of them had warrants out, the guy I butted was now in custody and they were far more interested in a description of his friend, what he was wearing etc. who has eluded them thus far.
I still have a sore head.
Nope, you're talking cr*p.
Clearly have been from the start - you're not even a convincing internet hard-man.
How embarrassing.0 -

:rotfl: well sorry but I do this, didn't used to, but got so sick of people sitting next to me who were grossly obese, ate smelly food, were smelly themselves (smokers, urgh:(), had a lack of personal hygeine I decided I preferred the aisle seat so I didn't have to be pinned against the wall by them in the aisle seat. Of course if people ask me to move so they can have the window seat I'm happy to - if they exhibit any of the previous attributes I just go find another seat.0
