Im likely to be in the same boat as you as dd cant get on the course she wants and they've told her to take a year out, get some work experience then apply in october. My plan is to take rent from her and to save it up for her without her knowing then that will be a bonus when she actually goes away.
Plus I'm treating it as a year of her learning to do the house related stuff like her own laundry etc and on my side, weaning myself away from having to know what time she will be in by etc
