Mobile.co.uk - Auto Cashback

Hi All

This is my first post(I think!)

I need to ask, has anyone taken up the "Autocashback" with mobiles.co.uk or carphonewarehouse.co.uk?

Me and my partner used both to get our phones. She was to get £200 back and I was to get £250.00.

Can I ask if you have taken it out what was the situation? We done this nearly 1 months ago now, and nothing has happened at all?

Any help would be greatly appreciated, can you also tell me, if they dont pay out does that make the contract null and void?

Regards

Andrew

    Hi there,

Cheques are raised after the Returns period has elapsed but due to the fact they are requested from, printed and posted by a Secure Printing Company we find that delivery can take up to 28 days - therefore if you haven't received your cheques 42 days after delivery of the mobiles (14 + 28) you should contact us via the site so we can chase these for you.

I'm fairly sure this is covered on the site but I will verify this and make sure it's obvious.

FWIW we're fairly close to moving to BACS payment of customer claims, both Autocashback and By Redemption.

    Thank you for this response,

Can I ask then, why does it say "cheque will be with you within 21 days...

Strange... I have until 19th February before the "42 days" has elapsed then...

    Kind regards

    Andrew

    Hi,
Automatic cashback is a promotion from Mobiles.co.uk, where payment is automatically processed 21 days following the delivery of your phone which allows time for any phone returns. Payment will be a cheque sent directly from our parent company The Carphone Warehouse. After being processed, receipt of the cheque will take a maximum of 28 days which allows time for it to be raised, printed and posted to you.

This is the blurb from the site, when you click on Autocashback; could I ask where you saw 21 days without the advice about cheque delivery, so I can get this addressed?

What you have said above is fine, and I understand that.

I got an email advising the cheque had been printed and had been issued on the 29th January, and it should be with me within 21 days. TBH the whole point of this thread was to find out if anyone had done autocashback with yourselves and if they actually got the cheque alright?

I am not complaining about your site at all. Only disappointing thing is I emailed through your website about 5 days ago and heard nothing back.

Maybe you could answer the next part... is it a cheque that I can take to my bank and cash and spend the money on what I like? I would like to treat the other half on Sunday but need to know I wont be left short for the rest of the month.

    Kind Regards

    Andrew

PS...Do you know if it is the same story for carphonewarehouse? I know the two of you are linked but is it the same policies?
  • I would never use this company again and would recommend anyone to avoid them. I am still awaiting payment from a cashback deal which was due in December 2009.

When I have e.mailed them for further information they have been slow to respond and the answers that they give are unhelpful. As it stands I am still awaiting a response to 4 e.mails that I sent them in January.:(

Exactly the reason I am worried about this cheque. It is alright for a company rep to come on and say you will have it, but I mean come on, why would a cheque take 42 days to arrive? Even when I worked at Brittish Gas christ 5 days was frowned upon!

    Get it sorted rep!

Dont Mess about - you should have sent them a LETTER BEFORE ACTION as soon as the due date had passed. Then take legal action.

Sorry for my ignorance but what is a letter before action. Is it simply sending a letter saying that if they do not pay in x days i will be taking legal action, or is there a bit more to it?

    Thanks in advance

Yes, that is it, its a notification this is the last chance they have to resolve it before you take the legal approach which can be costly to them as you would claim costs also. If they know they are in the wrong it usually works well to get them to pay up.

    EXAMPLE:

    To:

    XXXXXXX

    LETTER BEFORE ACTION

I submitted a claim for £XX Cash Back on XXXX. My t&c state that this amount would be with me in XXX days. Today is XXXX days past this date.

Therefore if I do not receive my money within 7 days of the date of this letter I will take legal action to recover this amount. This will incude £30 Money Claim On Line Fee.

    Signed
