Make sure you've emptied your hoover bag and sprayed that with anti fles stuff as well

Yes have been doing, makes me wish I have a bagless as the bags are quite pricey if you have to get rid of them so often, I also took the advice of the vet and cut up a flea collar and put a little bit in each time so the things don't jump at me when I change the bag!

Did the home treatment specify when you could re-treat? Depending on the product, one treatment in your home may only kill adults, but not the eggs (as the time scale may suggest). Re-treat your home if possible.

Frontline usually only 'neuters' the fleas so they can't reproduce, you may still be getting adults from outside.

Tea tree oil is soothing for flea bites (I'm a big flea/mite/whatever target too, so I feel for you!)

Frontline does kill adult fleas, maybe you are thinking of Program which sterilises fleas.

Due to the fleas' life cycle i can take a couple of weeks to get rid of the full problem, your vet may have been better giving you Frontline Combo instead of the regular Frontline as it also helps kill the different life stages of fleas instead of just the adult fleas.

I would re-treat your home making sure that you do all the nooks, skirting boards, even wooden flooring, sofas, mattresses (don't use it on human bedding wash this on a high temp wash), everything! Although the indorex should last 12 months. One can should do and average 3 bed home, did you use the full can?

Wouldn't bother cutting up a flea collar, most of them are in-effective anyway, like Sandy2 said its best to spray your hoover and bag with Indorex.
  • I used about 90% of the can, I only have a 2 bedroom house with quite small rooms, I just left a little extra so I could use it on the dining room chair the cat likes to sleep on if necessary.

I gave the cat a thorough brush yesterday with a flea comb and found nothing, hoovered all of the rooms with my neighbours dyson she kindly lent me which we then examined and couldn't see anything jumping inside the cylinder (we must have looked mental staring at a hoover)!
I didn't get bitten either so I think the first poster had good advice, that I should keep him in so he doesn't get any on him from outside.

I rang the vet again today as she asked me to let her know what happened and she said she looked on a website which said that if the fleas are in the pupae stage when you spray indorex they have to hatch before they are killed by the indorex as this is the only stage in the flea cycle which is not penetrated by the chemicals, so I guess that makes sense, as it might have taken them a week before they hatched and I got bitten by one before the indorex got to it.

Thanks so much everyone for your help.

    Hi everyone,

Ive had my kitten now for nearly 2 weeks and she has quite a few fleas. When we got her home she was scratching alot and now it seems like thats all she does.

Ive been looking everywhere for some flea powder for her but I cant seem to find any for her age. Shes only 10 weeks old and is a persian x and the fleas are driving her mad.

Will I have to wait another 2 weeks as most of the flea powders I have seen says she has to be over 12 weeks before I can do anything? And will it cost alot more because she is younger?

If anyone has got advice I will be so greatful. Thanks

What you can do is use a flea comb to clear the coat and put a piece of flea coller in the vacuem cleaner use both two or three times a day until you can use a stronger flea treatment.

Remember to worm her too! Fleas mean worms too.

best thing to do is to visit your vet, yes it s more expensive (at first glance) but the products are a lot better, they can start you on a good flea and worm routine which will save you a fortune in the long run.

For now, its a flea comb and patience unfortunately.
