The above link is what I used in our house. Twice. It dont work! Husband still finding fleas on leg and getting bitten. Now baby is affected and as she has eczema I need some strong stuff. I dont want to get the council in as you have to move all your stuff and put all your stuff away.

Im going to try and get some vet prescription only stuff.

Shame it didn't work, we have 10 cats and it sorted our problems.

I agree, treat the cats again with Frontline. You need to do it every 6 months. I use someone off eBay, have never had a problem and it's much cheaper than if you went to your vets to bu it.

    Here's who I buy from http://myworld.ebay.co.uk/noahpets

You need frontline plus, online sites can only sell the one that kills fleas on the animal. You need a vet presciption for the frontline that sterilises the fleas stopping them from breeding as well. Vigorous hoovering helps x

Just to add, all Frontline sterilises the fleas. You don't need to fork out more money for the Plus Frontline. Buying from your vet can be expensive.
Follow the link I gave you above, it's no illegal to sell Fontline outsite the EU and I paid well less than half what the vets wanted.

Agree with pusscat - the injection is so much better than the drops. Frontline seemed to make my cats really ill and 'off' for a long time after it, and triggered bad skin in one of them. They are so much happier having the injection (when they're back from the vets, that is ;))

Do you know if you can get the injections for dogs too?
    Thanks

I think mine are £17 (maybe £15 - can't find the last bill) per cat. I usually get them done at the same time as the annual boosters, wormers and check ups so there is no individual charge for a consultation.

The injection lasts for 6 months - you could just have one injection in the spring to last them through the summer as it is the main flea season, but I have them covered all year as it cost me more than £34 to get rid of the fleas last time........

Don't know about dogs sorry - I think there is something, but I'm not 100% sure

give your vets a call and ask - I am sure they would be happy to help, our vet was fantastic, for some reason the fleas never seemed to bite me - only everyone else in the house!!!

    Thanks.Thought of another question.
Does the injection cover ticks too? Frontline does. This year was particularly bad and they've suddenly gone. Washed out?

Advantage is good for treating the environment as well Celia Hammond Animal Trust told me - not sure how as it's used in the same way as Frontline - except the fleas do die faster.

    Hi,
At the moment we're using frontline, which used to work great for the last five or so years but doesn't seem to be working very well at all at the moment. Anyone got any recommendations for alternatives that work?
    Thanks
  • Mine both have 6 monthly Program injections - think they are £17 every 6 months and worth every penny. We have not had fleas for several years now since we switched.....

  • I couldn't do anything to keep my little puss flea-free because we lived next door to an ill-maintained house full of cats, and the fleas that lived on them seemed invincible!

However, just before we moved, I invested in a Bob Martin "super flea collar" which is black plastic and goes under a normal collar, and was about £12(!). It is supposed to keep all kinds of fleas / eggs / larvae down for a year. He hasn't had fleas once since then, but I expect the housemove has been a factor.
