What decorating scheme do you have in your Living room ??

My livingroom looks the same as it did 5 months ago when I moved in. Magnolia walls.

I'm not good at decorating.

My north-facing flat is painted a really pale grey-green which sounds odd, but actually it's highly adaptable - looks lovely with sepia photographs and woods, and tones with a wide range of colours (duck egg blue, leafy green, chocolate brown, plum). :cool: My floors and are mainly mid oak laminate, and furniture and doors oak veneer. My living area has an ivory and pale gold rug, ivory sofa and coffee table, black and pale gold curtains and cushions, black and cream photographic prints.

I spent far too long one lunchtime this week looking at the different decorating schemes (loads and loads) on the idealhome magazine website...

Then saved my favourite ones as bookmarks...

I have a lot of choices to make as the range of ideas was so great, might be worth a browse, taking into account what's previously been posted about light

I go to new build showhomes and get ideas! i have new build so it helps!

I have dulux suede effect chocolate colour on fireplace wall,VERY easy to paint on,you just swish on at all angles like a child would.It would also hide any uneveness you may have,and i am magnolia most everywhere else.

But,this is hard to explain, imagine one full choc wall meeting a full magnolia wall,right?:undecided..in the corner where they meet i have painted a vertical 1' wide strip of turquoise over the magnolia to match my cushions,easy to do with masking tape and quite effective.Also in the opposite corner where 2 magnolia walls meet i have a corner of the suede effect,approx a foot wide on each wall.If i can get photo on here ill show you.
I saw it in a show home,it looks fab...also imagine wall papering a full wall and just putting one more strip of paper on the next wall like it curls around and hugs the room.Its great effect. But hard to explain!:idea:

Does anyone know where I wil lbe able to get the glitter ball from { Preferably at low cost } or something similar as I really like it and think it would add light too . Something similar may also do the job but Ive looked on B& Q , Homebase , Wilkinsons , Amazon , Ebay and a few others and cant seem to find anything like this ???

Where did you get the pain from please as I quite like the sound of the colour , and is it any similar to the colour on my link ? As I have photos of my daughter in black and white also which I would like to put up and thought black frames would be good .

Im goinfto have another browse on the websites youve all suggested and hopefully will have made my decision by the end of the weekend

Magnolia everywhere I'm afraid. If you want to change the room, it is easy to just change the colour of all the accessories!

I just hang more old paintings up - the room never needs painting...:D

Not long done the lounge. It is quite small about 12ft x 10ft faces North but has a huge window (no curtains - less to wash!) Its on the first floor so not overlooked!
We have one wall papered: Chocolate brown with gold swirls on it and the other three walls are almond white. Browny fleck carpet and wait for it, we have a pale lavender coloured suite. Does it go? Don't ask me!

Yep I go with your colours too, except for the black,,, I have gold, cream walls ,and white ceilings doors and skirting, swags and tails curtains ive very large windows . and laminate flooring all over , its a clean fresh look which makes it very light bright and airy, but at the end of the day its your own personal choice .
