I saw a scenic trike ride available - would love to have a go at that - just my cup of tea - it goes from Glasgow for around 1.5 hours - 2 people.

Wonder if I should treat myself - but then who would I take with me Son nearly 18, son nearly 16, son 9 or husband?

Perhaps I could search the streets of Glasgow for a Dave Grohl look alike and offer him a ride with a scotch and a bit of shortbread thrown in!!!:D

Take your kids to the scotland street school museum and watch there faces when they see no whiteboards no computers, the old desk and chairs and nothing techno..

my daughter was amazed and also admired how we used to go to school and im only talking 30 years ago lol..

its again free and near to a underground station

Also i would recommend doing the city sightseeing tour one day, these are great as you can hop on and hop off but if you do it early in your week it also gives you a heads up as to whats around glasgow that me as a person who grew up didnt even know.

you can get vouchers for discounts or child free from tourist places or hotels ..

pick up as many leaftets as you can as some have discounts on them for places you might have been going to anyhow

and if your into football the scottish football museum is great, even for those members of the family who dont like football , tell them there fav pop star sat in the dressing room as they do concerts and they find it facinating..

good luck and enjoy, we love going back home to glasgow and taking my daughter each time is an aventure
Those we love don't go away,They walk beside us every day,Unseen, unheard, but always near,
Still loved, still missed and very dear
Our thoughts are ever with you,Though you have passed away. And those who loved you dearly,
    Are thinking of you today.

Thanks SO much for the private messages and of course the online messages of support after my little hiccup.

Well, we went and it was GREAT :T

The apartment was at Gallowgate - and in the evening/late night we people watched - great fun - our apartment overlooked the Gallowgate clock tower.

We found some fab little cafe's, went to The Arches a couple of times.

Visited the Barras - an eye opener :)

Walked all the way from Gallowgate to the Kelvingrove Museum and back (some good exercise that day!).

We visited the People's Palace twice (closed the 1st time).

Went looking for the Police Museum but couldn't find it lol

Did some great shopping - Glasgow has some lovely shops.

Had a meal in Mother India - my most favourite restaurant in the world lol

Played lots of Monopoly as a family.

Now, am planning a trip for next year but don't know where to go - husband has suggested Belgium but we will probably end up in Belfast if I get to book it!!!!!!!!!!

Again, thanks for all the interest.xxxx.

We found some fab little cafe's, went to The Arches a couple of times.

Visited the Barras - an eye opener :)Used to go there a lot as a child, it has lost a lot of it's character since then but still interesting, somewhat different to any other market! Usually gets frequently raided at this time of year by the police clamping down on the counterfeiters.

Walked all the way from Gallowgate to the Kelvingrove Museum and back (some good exercise that day!). Wow! Thats about a four mile hike, each way!

We visited the People's Palace twice (closed the 1st time).
Interesting museum in a beautiful building, hope you enjoyed!

Went looking for the Police Museum but couldn't find it lol That's a shame, you were only a stones throw away, but I think it's only open on certain days anyway.

Did some great shopping - Glasgow has some lovely shops.

Glad you had a good time in the 'dear green place'. Good luck with your next vacation planning ;).

  • oop[s should really read the thread first before i post.

did you go to Balloch at all?
"If you no longer go for a gap, you are no longer a racing driver" - Ayrton Senna
  • No, didn't end up going Balloch (1 of the kids gets really travel sick, especially bus).

We did go to see Wishbone Ash though - husband really enjoyed it, my feet were killing me from all the walking during the day so if you were there and saw an old fogey in big goth boots sitting drinking a sangria - oops I mean pint o' heavy it was me! :D

Belfast is a great place to visit. I took my three children for a short break at half term. We had a great time.

Glad that you had a good time in Glasgow
