Well done. I was going to say before I had reached the end that the advantage of renting a flat is the cooking facilities which you wouldn't have had in a Travelodge.

The Transport Museum will be closed as it is relocating but the Kelvingrove museum and art galeries are a must see and is free. All museums in Glasgow are free but are usually closed on a Monday! You are right about shows and stuff check out the Kings Theatre for kids shows. You can get travel passes that cover buses, underground and trains for a week which should cut down on costs as they are in zones and can cover either city centre or a lot wider. Buchanan Bus Station and Queen Street Train Station will take you East and North. Central Station will take you South and West. Glasgow has many parks some of which have Botanic Gardens (large greenhouses).

Hope you enjoy your visit to Scotland. Maybe your 17 yr old could visit a university or two!

Just a little update - only 1 week left until our holiday in Glasgow - family all really looking forward to it - have bought cut price vouchers via itison.co.uk for lunch at the arches (2 days worth) and are looking into going to the ski/snow place.

If anyone has any places to visit that they could recommend that would be great.

I just want to say that I have just last week visited Glasgow unfortunately for a funeral BUT!!
I had not been there for 14 years and had forgotten just how friendly helpful and humourous Glasgow people are!
I lived in Glasgow from a child of 11 until 1976 when I moved to Fife now for the past 12 years I live in Harrogate BUT GLASGOW has a heart and a huge one at that.
I stayed in a very nice hotel Sherbrook Castle which is in the south side of the city. Everyone at the Hotel and everywhere I went often to places I didn't know how to get there were magnificent!

Have a great holiday and if you can afford it go to the Willow Tearoom for afternoon tea!

Given that is directly opposite the Kelvingrove Art Gallery it normally would be a good idea....but it's closed!

Yes there are. The first one is on Sauchiehall St and the 2nd in Buchanan Street. I have not been in the Buchanan Street one just looked from the outside. I am sure that either would be great.
