i did my online then phoned them after a few days as we received no letter in post, but they stated we covered from as soon we sign up.

thats not totally true, if they come out and find something wrong with it then it will not be covered ,you need to get them out asap .

Thanks heating-eng for the additional info.

Does this mean that if I sign up and they come out and something is wrong with it, then they will not provide the cover? Will they want to charge you for coming out in that case, and will you have to pay anything at all?

Hopefully it won't be the case as the system is a fairly new one... If this is the case then I would be covered as soon as they've been and given it the ok...

if its all ok there is no problem . but if they could out and there is something wrong then they will not cover it .
so like i say the quicker they come out the better.
you wouldnt need to pay anything as far as i know if they come out and tell you there is a problem and you dont agree with the repair

Thanks heating-eng, I guess at this point they wouldn't have taken any payments just yet..

not really sure how the payment side of it works but if they come and say they will not cover it then they will refund if they have taken any money.
to be honest they will proberly cover it as they seem to take most tihngs on now a days ,so you should have no probelms

Had a go at placing this through Quidco the other day. Managed it ok, said paperwork will be sent out with 14 days and you have 7 day cooling period from date you get it.

It didn't ask any details though about the boiler, I was expecting it to want details on make etc... but no..

  • wasnt something about these potterton boilers on watchdog as they were faulty a few years ago now?? i remember it because my boiler kept tripping off however i had gone to the expense of having a part replaced to the tune of 200.00. Then i saw an article on watchdog and on there web site they had produced a template letter for you to print off and to send to potterton....

Watchdog BBC did a story on these boilers. Having to restart the boiler to get any hot water or heating. But until the faulty part was replaced it would just keep switching off. It cost about £300 to repair the faulty circuit board.

If you've paid for a repair to your boiler due to circuit board failure and would like to ask for your money back, you can use this sample letter (link below) to contact Potterton.
edited to say i have taken this imformation from a previous post from this site but i didnt know how to link it..hope it helps

If your boiler has broken down due to circuit board failure and would like Potterton to pay, you can use this sample letter(link below)[
