Can you describe please what happens when you press the reset button on the boiler. Does it attempt to light at all? Does it light, burn for a short period and then go out? Do you see what I mean? What exactly happens - its that sort of detail..

    Cheers

Hi keystone, when we press the reset button it lights up and starts heating. It tends to not always start to heat up again when the heating drops below a certain temp and also if the hot water is due to come on at a certain time, the water doesn't always heat (as the light doesn't kick in)..

    Thanks heating-eng

Homecare 200 package is currently £15.33 per month as they are including 10% off

    http://www.britishgas.co.uk/products-and-services/maintenance-and-repair/exclusive-offers.html

This works out at approx £183. If I was to just get the boiler serviced anyway it wouldn't be cheap I'm guessing. Is this package ok?

Package Homecare 300 covers plumbing and drains
Package Homecare 400 covers home electrics

i would get the homecare 200 myself .
in fact i have homecare 200 on 3 of my propertys

heating-eng, thank you. I have just got a quote for a boiler service and it's £70 total. Although my other half did point out that if other things need doing that cost will be added ontop..

With Homecare 200, are all parts and labour, and call outs covered then upto a certain price?

i wouldnt just get the service . they wont mend it .

What's involved in BG coming to pass it? Once you join up will they visit, or do they wait until they do a service and pass/fail at that time? Hopefully it's all ok as we only just had in installed in 2006.
Are these makes pretty reliable? Our local plumber suggested it when the old one needed replacing.

heating-eng, it was a local guy that quoted £70 (not BG).

I taken out BG cover...use Quidco and get £30 (was £40 last month) CB. Also when youre on the BG page scroll down to Products and Services, then the Exclusive offers tab on RHS and you get 10% off boiler cover (plus my Quidco tracked!)

Hi mutley74 thanks for the tip, I had looked via Quidco but you don't get the 10% off which you get on their homepage...

Hmm i'm confused now, when I went through Quidco the options are :
    Option3

Include an annual boiler service with HomeCare®

With our HomeCare® range you can have added peace of mind that your boiler will be checked annually by one of our engineers to ensure that your boiler is working safely and efficiently.
    HomeCare Flexi 100™
    from £10.50 a month3
    (Includes Boiler Care +
    Annual boiler service)

    HomeCare Flexi 200™
    from £12.50 a month3
(Includes Boiler & Central Heating Care + Annual boiler service)
    bttn_getaquote_green.gif

    TimeChoice
    • For only £3 a month you can add TimeChoice™ to your HomeCare® agreement and receive exclusive 2 hour time slot appointments during the week.
    • Also, we can offer you a same day appointment every day of the year if you have no heating and / or no hot water if you call us before 10am.

Is this the same as Homecare 200? Also when I go direct it was £15.33 a month and via quidco it's stating £17 a month for same cover.

All good if it definately tracks on Quidco..

Thanks heating-eng re tip on the cost of local service charge, appreciated..
