Instead of calling, perhaps find out their registered office and send a recorded delivery letter to the company secretary clearly stating your case. http://www.lastminute.com/lmn/webcourier/en_GB/MSN/MSN/privacy.htmlPosts are not advice and must not be relied upon.0 -

Probably best to send it to the directors of the company, rather than the co sec. Co sec only really deals with the admin of the co, rather than any decision making."An eye for an eye leaves the whole world blind" - Mahatma Gandhi0 -
Here's a bit about 'Company Secretary' http://www.prospects.ac.uk/cms/ShowPage/Home_page/Explore_types_of_jobs/Types_of_Job/p!eipaL?state=showocc&idno=55
They have an obligation to advise Directors of their legal responsibilities.
Perhaps a letter to both a Director and the Co. Sec.Posts are not advice and must not be relied upon.0 -
Up the stakes a little, pass your case onto Watchdog, Raw Deal at the Sunday Post or similar and let them do the haggling for you. Make sure you have sought advice from the a consumer advice bureau too.Timmay!0

Thanks again for all your responses. I phoned the head office number given by Most Wanted. Receptionist would not put me through to either of the two people mentioned, but did take all details down and said she would get back to me. Lets see what she does.
I phoned ABTA, they have asked me to email the company and forward the emails to them and they will chase lastminute on my behalf.
So I am about to email lastminute. Any particular points I should include in my mail?
I will also send snail mails to the mentioned adressees.
Jetboy - getting in touch with watchdog now.
All your help is really appreciated - this forum is great.:T0 -

Without going to OT, legal responsibilities of being a director of the company. i.e. acting within the co's mem and arts, not acting ultra vires, making sure directors carry out their legal duties (i.e. properly considering contracts, etc). In terms of dealing with commercial / legal matters, they are different from legal responisbilities of directors."An eye for an eye leaves the whole world blind" - Mahatma Gandhi0 -
Hi Puja,
Your "contract" is with the airline, yes hammer Lastminute, also Globepost which is the Flight supplier/agent to lastminute(same group)!
But they will and try to pass the buck, get hold of the airline it is them that supply, not Lastminute, they will then put pressure on(hopefully). When i get hold of them will post the terms regarding flights
Good Luck.0 -
(ii) Charter Flights
In the sale of charter flights Globepost Limited (part of the lastminute.com plc group) acts as agent for various third party suppliers. The contract for the charter flight will be between you and the relevant supplier and you will be subject to their terms and conditions. To read those terms and conditions please click here.0 -
I think this basically puts them in the wrong, but beware they have other clauses, such as cacelling your flight(major disruption)and giving you your money back +£30 compo.GO FOR THE JUGULAR!!!!!
For flights products
When we present flight allocations on the site we are inviting you to make an offer for their purchase. You do not make this offer until you press the "Confirm" button at the shopping basket stage. Don't worry if you have made any mistakes in inputting any of your details as we will give you the opportunity to correct any errors before you press "Confirm".
Once you have pressed "Confirm" you have made lastminute.com an offer to purchase the flight(s) from the airline for whom we are acting as travel agent. lastminute.com is authorized by each of its suppliers to accept this offer on their behalf. The lastminute.com e-mail confirmation is the contractual acceptance of your offer.
Be aware that certain airlines do not maintain "real time" seat availability in the airline reservations system to which we connect. Whilst every effort is made to reflect the true situation, instances may occur when airlines cancel sales. We will advise you within one working day if this is the case and will do all we can to reinstate your booking.
Please note that once the order is ticketed you can only cancel the flight in accordance with the relevant restrictions on the ticket which may impose cancellation charges or state that the ticket is non-refundable. Equally you may also be subject to lastminute.com cancellation charges to cover our administration costs.0
