For all of those who have managed to quit how long before you actually didnt even think about haveing a cigarette?????

I packed in smoking about 3 yrs ago and I still to this day get that urge to have a ciggy. Obviously its only now and again, probably if im out having a drink or something like that. Remeber though all it takes is for you to have that one draw and you'll probably be hooked again.

You have to totally change your routine because thats what smoking is, its a routine for you. So lets assume your usually morning routine is get up and have a cuppa with a ciggy you need to do something else like get up and have a glass of water then start the housework or something like that.
My worst times were mealtimes so after my Tea id get straight on the computer, looking at Ebay or something because I was changing my routine. If I got the urge to light up id say to myself "You have gone a day, you can go another" and try to think about something else.

Well done, you have got through the worst of it. Just keep telling yourself you've gone this long and you dont need the ciggies. Also I used to treat myself to something at the end of the week, it was my treat for being good lol.
Well done and keep it up :D

I stopped in March last year after 25 years of smoking!! It was hard at first, because your hand automatically still reaches for the cigarettes, even when they are not there. Lollipops and chewing gum help lots, as does changing your routine. I do sometime still get the urge to have one, but I don't crave them at all, I hate the smell, but unfortunately my hubby still smokes, so it is hard when you smell it all day. It took about a month to stop reaching for them, maybe three to six months to feel like a non-smoker, and now I really pity anyone who smokes, because you don't realise until you stop just how addictive it was!
    Starting weight 17st 4lb - weight now 15st 2lbs

    30lb lost of 30lb by June 2012 :j:j:j (80lb overall goal)

I haven't smoked in nearly 4 years and hate the smell of them, hate the look of them too, however when I watch shameless I get an urge to smoke. I think it must be because I can see the cigarettes constantly, but don't have the smell to put me off.

Why don't you try to remember how you felt, when you were really ill, and couldn't face the thought of a fag, and remember thats what baby will be feeling like all the time you smoke.

Well done for finally doing it, keep it up you will be doing an amazing thing for yourself and most importantly your babies health.

The fact that Allen bases his book on is the fact that NOBODY who smokes enjoys smoking even though they may claim to.
Fags don't taste nice, they hurt your throat, your mouth, your chest etc, we only smoke because we are addicted to nicotine and we convince ourselves and others we enjoy it to justify a truly ridiculous act!!!

I wasn't fed up with smoking at all (at least i didn't think so) we were only quitting as we are ttc.

Please recommend this book to any smoking friends, he has a 90% success rate higher than ANY government sponsored quitting programme.
He truly believes that if he had the backing from the government that patches etc had he could practically cure the whole of the world of smoking!!!!!

He reverses the brainwashing that the governemnt and tobacco comapanies have been using on us for so amny years to keep us hooked it is not in the governments interests for people to stop smoking, they bang on about how much smokers cost the nhs but it is still nothing close to what they receive in tax from smokers.

    Tax from fags = 8.1 Billion (Politics.co.uk)
NHS spending on cigarette related illness = 1.7 Billion (money.msn.co.uk)

. allen's books point out every message and advert the government put out about stopping smoking is always banging on about hard it is to give up.
They make out that stopping smoking is going to be the hardest thing we ever do, we are going to feel awful etc etc.

Well i have been smoking for 20 years and i have stopped with no pangs, cravings nothing.
I sat in the kitchen with dh whilst he had one and i was fine.

I simply stopped buying into the myth that fags do something for me, make me feel better, happier less stressed.

Thats all rubbish it is fags that cause those feelings by getting you addicted to nicotine, it is the nicotine addiction that makes you feel stressed anxious and irritable and the only point when that nicotine itch is scratched is the first puff on your fag. After that your body instantly starts to crave it again.
Thats the vicious cycle of nicotine addiction and using nicotine replacement products only go to extend the life of your addiction they do not help in any way!!!!

Guess what ? You will never, ever have to do those three days again.

Coughing is the lungs cleaning themselves. They're very good at it given the chance. If I cough a lot I usually finish up by upchucking. Spots come and spots go. If we knew why we'd be millionaires :D
.................:)....I'm smiling because I have no idea what's going on ...:)
