    Well done Simmy!

The best bit of advice I keep in mind from Alan Carr is that I don't want a cigarette - i just want to stop the withdrawal symptoms. I still fall off the wagon now and then if I have a drink but it's getting better. Having my DD 2 years ago helped.

Apart from the dangers of smoking in pregnancy there's also the danger to your baby when he/she is born. Even if you don't smoke in the house you are still emitting harmful chemicals for a while after you smoke and it is very risky re cotdeath etc. So you are doing well to stop now. :)

i quit when i was 4 months pregnant, once you decide to stop, its all you think about, it will drive you nuts, you have got to keep saying to yourself, i have mangaged one day without, i have mangaged a week without, eventually you will have gone a month and if you can go that far it should get easier.
    good luck

You have done brilliantly to get this far. But think about how you are going to prevent yourself from going back to smoking once the baby is born. this happens to lots of women who stop while pregnant. the stress of having ababy is too much and they give in.

My Mum smoked, I had glue ear, my brother had asthma for which he was hospitalised for 6 months as a baby, my friends at schoo,l didn't like sitting next to me because i smelled of smoke, every time I had a cold it went to my chest and I got very ill, my Mum had a stroke when I was just 13 and couldn't work after that, then she got lung cancer when I was in my 30's and died soon after.

All I am saying is that going back to smoking should never be an option for you now as you have more than just yourself to think about. Good luck and well done...
