I quit!!!! & its getting harder than easier

Options
OK Im 34 weeks pregnant,

Throughout my pregnancy I cut down from 10 to 5 cigarettes a day.... last week I fell ill I had a viral infection and coughing/ sneezing, vomiting etc.. I felt absolutely crap. & I didnt want to smoke because it would make me feel worse...So I decided to quit seen as I didnt feel like smoking anyway. The last time I had a cigarette was a half that I found lying around on Sunday. Since then I havent touched one Im craving like mad...I darent go out as I know I will be tempted to buy some...OH (bless him is a non smoker and is deterined for me to stop) he has been very supportive. Ive quit cold turkey and Im not taking any NRT.Ive been smoking for ten years and Im finding it so hard but I really dont want to go back to it. It was a disgusting habit...

This is a confession/rant/ moan.....

For all of those who have managed to quit how long before you actually didnt even think about haveing a cigarette?????

Well done to you, keep thinking about all the harmful substances that you would be passing through your baby's body.

Keep busy, i always say its physically impossible to think about two things at once so keep your mind busy with other things even if its reading a book or doing a crossword.

Its got to be bloody hard work without even nicotine cheweys.
I think youre bliddy brilliant and so should you.
    Be smug, its allowed.
    Good luck

the stopping was easy for me, it was the staying stopped i found hard ...

eventually i quit with hypnotherapy , which gives you ways of dealing with the cravings

after 3 days your body is no longer addicted to nicotine ..

but psychologically i was still craving so i found it was a problem with my mind , not my body !!

one thing that did help was thinking of the craving as an enemy , and i had to beat it - also that it wasn't ME that wanted a fag , it was my addiction

good luck mate .... was the hardest thing i ever did.

Paul Mckenna also does one, it helped me stop a long time ago, its all in mind control. One part of our brain is a smoker, the other is not. You have to tell the non smoker to tell the smoker that he is bigger and stronger and more bossier than the other.
Keep them talking toeach other, the non smoker always doing more talking and being more assertive than the other.
and keep it up, all the time.

i will say that its not so much that harmful substances are being given to your baby .. but that your baby is not being given as much oxygen as they should be

im sure that nicotine and other stuff cannot pass throught the placenta - just that there will be less oxygen for your babe

Ah I feel relieved people who actually know how Im feeling.....Im finding it hard to not smoke I say to my OH at least 3/4 times a day to go and buy me a pack even though I know he wont i still ask him. Im too scared to go out because I dont trust myself and I know if I get dressed up n go out Ill pop to the corner shop and buy a box so Ive been lazing around in my nightie for the past few days which isnt bad when u preggers..I dont think im craving ...( i dont get any feelings or anything) I just feel like one (I think thats psychological)... Im hoping I stay stopped as Im worried about when I bump into peers that smoke.

To be honest if being pregnant doesn't give you the motovation to stop smoking, I'm not sure what will. Good luck with giving up.
