I agree- the stars are named for a reason, use them appropriately or there's just no point.durham_girl wrote: »Why would you leave 1's for the other 3 stars when the only problem you had was with P&P? I thought their purpose was to honestly rate the transaction and that's not an honest rating. This is my opinion. There are many others like it but this is mine:kisses2: Fiancee of the "lovely" DaveAshton :kisses2:I am a professional ebay seller. I work hard at my job, I love my job, if you think it's silly that's your problem not mine.

Hi the reasons for the negative feedback and low stars are as follows:TurkishDelight wrote: »I agree- the stars are named for a reason, use them appropriately or there's just no point.
1. The OP says the item arrived dirty.
2. The OP has not recived a reply from their email covering the issues from the seller.
3. It arrived late.
4. They were overcharged on postage
Please read what an OP posts before posting or you will end up looking like you are defending a lazy seller and I am sure you do not want defend lazy sellers.
This seller should get negative feedback or at least a neutral with all 1 star ratings as they have done everything wrong they could have with this sale.0 -
sorry but
1) does the royal mail always deliver items perfectly? i think not.
2) its like me going to hmv, buying a dvd then complaining because i found they bought it for 3 quid but selling it for 10!
4) it was quoted openly in the ad. if they thought the price was too much they shouldnt have bought it
negative rating are pedantic and pathetic.
3) is the only slight point of real grievence. however. if it was still received in a reasonable time then it deserves a neutral, no less.
But moral of the story is simple - dont like the price, dont buy it.2023 wins - zilch, nada, big fat duck. quack quack,0 -
They actually could have posted it on the 6thjennyjelly wrote: »'post by 08.02.10' which means that it was posted no earlier than 7th Feb,
. The 7th was a Sunday, so it doesn't count as a day for printed postage reasons.
Still outside the stated 4 days, though.Back on MSE after a 5 year hiatus.

Hi I have to agree here that negative feedback is more than justified at the least I would leave a neutral with a 1 rating on all four stars.
That'll see you added to my blocked bidders list. Why on earth would you give 1s on the description if it matched that on the listing? The OP said the item needed a clean, and I assume that wasn't made clear, so I'd drop it to 3 or so.
I'd give low marks (1) for the despatch time, possibly low for the P&P (though you knew the amount they were charging before buying, so 4), possibly low for his comms if his reply was abrupt, but no worse than a neutral overall.
As was said previously, you knew the total amount and you were happy to pay it.
What the seller pays his carriers, whether it be RM, DHL, or the local man with a van, is immaterial. The price he was charging was clear on the listing.
I always give 5 stars for despatch (it's not for delivery, as the OP obviously knows) if it's posted within the timescale on the listing, if it's sent by the method shown (or better) and if the packing gets it to me intact.
If, however, it gets to me in one piece IN SPITE of the packing, the seller uses 2nd class instead of Special Delivery, or he leaves it a week before going to the PO, the P&P and despatch marks drop like stones and he gets a red.Exclamation and question marks - ONE exclamation mark or question mark is sufficient to exclaim or ask about something. More than one just makes you look/sound like a prat.
Should OF, would OF. Dear oh dear. You really should have, or should've listened at school when that nice English teacher was explaining how words get abbreviated.0 -

No its not immaterial excessive P&P is fee avoidance and against ebay rules. The OP agreed to the postage cost assuming it was reasonable. I don't know about you but I don't have the superpower to look at a photo of an object and immediately know what the postal price will be.
Sellers who charge excessive postage are being rather silly anyway with the DSRs and higher seller requirements a few 1s or 2s and their selling will be affected.
I think Baffcat you need to have a look at the Terms and Conditions

So how much do you think that you should have paid?jennyjelly wrote: »And no, I don't feel ripped off by the product, just by the postage, I don't like cheats.
Remember to include:
1) The actual cost of postage
2) The cost of the packaging material used
3) The cost (petrol or bus fare) of transporting the item to the Post Office
4) The salary paid to his staff for their time taken to package the item and transport it to the Post Office (you can use Minimum Wage when calculating this)
5) The salary paid to his staff for their time taken to respond to a Buyer (this means you!) who disputes a charge which they had formerly agreed to
How much does that come to, before you accuse him of being a "cheat"?!

Hi this post is for baffcat and bluffer and a few others read the whole thread as you are missing the point the item arrived dirty this has nothing to do with royal mail I would expect negative feedback if I sent an item to a buyer and the item was so dirty the buyer had to clean it before it could be used and sellers like this do nothing but drive customers away from ebay that hurts everybodys profit if you sell anything on ebay.
If you recieved an item that was late, dirty, and overcharged on postage then recieved a reply to an email that said yes I have overcharged you on the postage by mistake but now I am keeping the extra money as extra profit for me from the seller would you leave a negative comment on the sellers feedback?
I think everyones answer would be and should be yes so in future please read the whole thread or at least read what the OP posted in the first place before making a comment.
Ps. Baffcat George666 is not my ebay user ID I am not stupid enough to post my user ID on an open forum so you have blocked a random ebay user from bidding on your items.0 -

That's all postage is it?
Anyway it is completely immaterial what we anonymous people on an internet forum think, all that matters is that enough people consider charging for absoutely everything and pretending it is postage is not acceptable and if enough people leave poor stars the seller will be gone soon anyway.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. No - but it is all part of "Postage and Packaging" (which is what eBay refers to). It includes all the expenses which the Seller has to incur in order to get the item to the Buyer. That's all postage is it?
Postage is only one component of those expenses, but many people (including the OP) only look at the Postage costs and do not factor in the other expenses which constitute P&P.Philip0
