Its been a while since I've been on here but have now caught up on everyones reads.

I've read a few books since I was last on and have very nearly finished the one I'm on now - All Fall Down by Ally Carter.

I've had a couple on ins but they were 4 books for £1 at the village carnival so I don't feel too guilty!

I've been reading mainly library and kindle books tho so my tbr pile has not gone down much. A recent one I thought was brilliant was The Humans by Matt Haig.

I have nothing to read on the bus home as I have finished Northanger Abbey by Val McDermid. A pleasant and clever retelling of the Jane Austen original. It needs a particularly nice and naive heroine to carry the stiff Austenesque plot, which Val does very well, and with enough alienating narrative voice to remind us that Cat Morland has her flaws and we're not meant to take her so seriously. It renders the tale a bit chick-lit, as we judge the aspirations of the characters with our 21st-Century eyes, but the thing with Val McDermid is she's pretty good, so this is done well. Take it you all know the plot? Naive girl Cat Morland gets swept up by gothic romance, meets a dashing beau and a few scandalous types, learns about the duplicitous nature of girlish friendships and that she can't turn to a book to find out about life. Good stuff.
    Keep reading books!

I've just updated by signature and realised that I'm half way through the year and not even a third of the way through my reading target :o:( Must try harder!

Have this book on my shelf waiting to be read.
Have just finished the Kingmaker's Daughter. Really good read. Have managed to get hold 'the white princess' in a charity shop. Have also already got The King's Curse lined up to read after.

I had Hilary Mantel's "Assassination of Margaret Thatcher" in the kitchen, loved it! She's amazing bringing characters to life , quite an art with short stories.
I am now listening to Rachel Joyce" The love song of Queenie Hennessie", very good. It's the counterpart to "The unlikely pilgrimage of Harold Fry".

On a sad note, our Council is now closing 12 of our libraries, I could just cry...

Finished Pillow Talk the other day. That was a nice read. :)
Reading The Sign of Four by Arthur Conan Doyle. A Sherlock Holmes book we purchased through Radio Times. Short, so nearly finished.

Had notification that my Judy Blume book is ready at the library, so I'll pick that up tomorrow, when the library reopens for the week.

I understand that upset at the closure of your libraries, Happygreen, one of the reasons why I have my reservations sent to the library just across the road from me rather than the central library to try and help keep it active. It's only small.

Romping through 'The White Princess'. Thoroughly enjoying it.
I really enjoy reading stories that run over several books - seeing how characters develop.

I had 2 'ins' at the weekend. Went to the local car boot so they didn't cost me much.

I bought "The first phone call from Heaven" by Mitch Albom and "Delirium" by Lauren Oliver.

Finished 'Too late...I love you" today. An easy and enjoyable read.

Thinking of starting "To be a cat" by Matt Haig next

    Hi everyone

Not been on in a while, have been busy moving in to my first home with the other half, and then we bought a little puppy!

I am still ploughing through The Host by Stephanie Meyer, it was slow to start and I put it down to read something else. Now I am 450 pages in and really enjoying reading it!

I am also reading Grey by E L James on my kindle on a night, it is pretty much the same as the first 50 shades, with some 'inner' speech from Mr G, enjoying it though.

Next I am going to re-read The Fault In Our Stars, because I keep seeing posters for the book in the train station, and One Day
