I'm still to get around to catching up on the thread, but my reading is going well... a sunny weekend resulted in a relaxing couple of afternoons whiled away in the garden reading - bliss!
I finished the Lee Child - very enjoyable if you like action/thriller, one of the better ones I've read by him for a while.
I picked up The Curious Case of the Dog in the Night-time yesterday afternoon, not really expecting it to be my bag (it was gifted), but I've stormed through it (so easy to read!) and have just 20 pages to go - I didn't want this morning's commute to end quite so soon! So I will finish that this evening. Not sure what I'll pick up next, maybe another Nelson DeMille.
So 10/26 down for the year so far.MFW 2017 #123 2018: £1,852.64/£39,200 (4.7%)0 -
Finished Wind in the Willows and To Kill A Mockingbird.
Then started Wizard of Oz and finished that yesterday, that's what happens when we have to travel a fair distance. That's all my classic adventures read and also my Kindle books. This is quite exciting, as I can now concentrate on my other books. Most of last years reading list has been read, so there's lots of new books coming up.0 -
I'm still awfully busy reading stuff for work in bed.....following with interest what you are reading!

I now found something nice to read, Cliches, Avoid Them Like The Plague by Nigel Fountain. Each bite-sized chapter explains origin, history and uses in alphabetical order. My pet hate was right a the start "at the end of the day", makes me cringe each time I hear it, lol.
A perfect little book for summer reading nights with so little time...can't wait for the holidays!First they ignore you, then they ridicule you, then they fight you, and then you win - Gandhi0 -

I have completed Pelquin's Comet by Ian Whates - part 1 of a trilogy, this is a characterful space opera, featuring augmented humans, strange aliens who are either cute or brutes and a buccaneering salvage crew. If you liked the series Firefly, I think you'd like this - very well written, very enjoyable. Can't wait for book 2.. yes, this was one I bought new. Happy to do my bit for the creators to earn, when I can. Just have to get through a few more...
So, on to a nice, fluffy read: Val McDermid's modern re-telling of Jane Austen's Northanger Abbey. So light, I'm already a quarter of the way through. It's set during the Edinburgh Festival, which is an awesome thing to go to, if you can, but really pricey. Ah... miss the place.Keep reading books!

Some great ideas mentioned for what to read if I can pick the books up cheaply or borrow them. Thanks . I've vowed not to spend anything on books until I've read what I've already got but sometimes the lure of a car boot sale/charity shop gets too much to resist:o
Haven't had a minute to read anything for over a week:( as have been doing a very time-consuming temporary job which has involved sorting out mountains of paperwork every evening when I get home. Back to normal from midweek I hope:j0 -
Since I was last here I was able to start and finish Freya North's Secrets. It read very quickly, though I also had a bit more time to read it this week. She's one of my authors I started reading a long time ago, with Cat Polly and Sally. She writes well and I found that her characters in this one weren't as cliched as other authors probably would've written them.
Started Pillow Talk by the same author a couple of nights ago, that's going well so far.
Two new books added on to my library reservation list that I am looking forward to: Judy Blume's latest book In The Unlikely Event. Judy Blume is one I remember reading when I was pre-Teen and then a Teenager. Also Freya North's newest book The Turning Point.
I reserve new books through the library, as they take a little while to come through so I can be in between books before collecting these for starting.0 -
Finished the girl from penny lane so that has been returned to the work reading circle
Started the alchemists daughter nowSPC~12 ot 124
