    Welcome kirstie,
I read the 50 Shades books but didn't bother with the film as it got such bad reviews.
I love Philippa Gregory books but haven't read kings curse yet. I love the ones in the Tudor era ie henrys wives stories.
I've got all the HP books and keep saying I must read them but so far other things get in front of them in the queue.

I LOVE HP books. I bought goblet of fire for my sister for christmas one year, she's not a reader, i started it on boxing day and could not put it down. finished itthat night and then worked my way backwards, and to be honest, im glad i did, cause i found the first 3 more childish than the 4th. i then re-read them in order before the 5th book came out, and again for every release, and i continue to re-read them 1-7 every soo often.

read the 50 shades books but they where hard going, not because of the content, but the really bad writing! also the unbelievability of some of the plots - they just didnt fit in with the story line - and i completely agree with the 'feminists' who say it is a book about abuse, quite frankly, if that was me or my friend, alarm bells would be ringing from the start, before they have even bagun 'a relationship'. hopefully it was all just made up and not someones version of RL.

I cant get into Philippa Gregory, and i really want to! ive not read any more of the other bolyn girl since getting stuck into the game of thrones series.
Noticed the Bad Mothers Handbook on my bookcase/bedside table this morning, think i will finish that one this weekend, i know i am about a third of the way through, and it is a great read, i just had too much going on when i started it that i couldnt give it my all.

    Hi

I re-read the HP series a couple of years ago while my BF was in South Africa for 2 weeks. I'm of the age where the first book came out just as I started reading on my own properly.

The 50 Shades books started as fan fiction for Twilight, that's why 85% of the plot is completely unbelievable and a bit sloppy, I think the author was just trying too hard to stick to the same themes as Twilight but in an adult way...

I've not read The Other Boleyn Girl but would quite like to after I have finished the current series I am reading that I am really into, probably getting through 1 book ever 2-3 days at the minute, they are just too hard to put down so I end up reading 100-150 pages at a time!

Im 32 and HP is still my favorite series to go to haha

The concept for the 50 shades books is good from what it came from, but from having read both twilight and 50 shades, i have to say, that both are a waste of (my) time. im surprised that a publishing house took it on from a blog to a book without fixing it first. as fan art its great, as a book its dismal. haha

Still reading PHilippa Gregory - The White Queen. Amount of reading slowed down this week as I have been working in the garden for up to a couple of hours of each night after work.

  • I'm really loving Thomas Hardy's A Pair of Blue Eyes. Found it slow-going at first because of the language and the fact that the print is so small but now I'm 'into it' I'm hooked. Will definitely be going on to read/reread everything else he ever wrote, a little (or maybe mega:eek:) challenge for myself this year! Was a huge fan of his in the distant past so it's nice to rediscover him:j.
  • Talking of Twlight, well not really, but I'm reading author Stephanie Meyer's book The Host. Going okay so far, though I feel like it has gaps in the filling out of the background, so it came across as 'jumpy' at first, though I think that's getting better now I'm 200+ pages in. It's one of those stories that you come in the middle of so you're not really sure what's going on for ages, so I'll just keep reading it until it makes sense or finishes!

The Morning Star Kindle read is going okay, though I've not been able to get on top of that one as much.

Well done on your bargain book:T. Sounds a great charity shop to go to, all the ones round here are very expensive these days:(. I love it when I spot a book in really good condition at a giveaway price (usually at a car boot sale). Sometimes there's nothing I'd been looking out for or often I'd never even heard of any of them:o. I've discovered some brilliant books/authors that way and it's lovely when I've found a 'new' author that I really like and see that they've written loads of other books as well:j.

I'm finished with the Zookeeper's War. It's quite well-researched but obviously some heavy stuff in there...

I'll look for a lighter read on the shelves and piles now! ;)
