I really enjoyed Inkheart, but I shouldn't bother with the film!

I actually watched the film when it came out at the cinema - I quite enjoyed it as I went in with no expectations (unlike The Golden Compass) but was told at the time by someone that had read the book that it was rubbish compared to the book - they were incredibly disappointed with it.

Finished another book today - "Cross my heart and hope to spyhe 2nd in the Gallagher Girls series - very enjoyable. I'll have to wait a while for the next one tho as the library has lost their copy! Hopefully they'll find it soon.
Not sure what my next book will be - possibly "Between Mom and Jo"

I have to say book 4 was my least favourite but book 5 is better again, in case you've been put off by any reviews!

I do get the sense it's a bit of a "filler" book. Have joined a book club here and it looks like the first book is one of my un-read's so will be enjoying getting to grips with that!

His Dark Materials are some of my most favourite books ever! I completely hated the bright and sparkly Golden Compass film  The Inkheart film isn't as bad in comparison but the book is better, it really captured my imagination :)

I'm on Goodreads - I don't think I've managed to put all my unread books on there yet tho as I did it from memory but I find it useful when I'm stuck trying to pick my next book. ALso good to read the reviews.

I didn't really understand how they mess up an amazing story - especially after I thought they had found the perfect cast - but they seemed to manage it :(. I have thought recently that I should give it another go and maybe I'd just built it up too much but I think I'd just be disappointed again!

I'm looking forward to Inkheart - don't think I've heard anything bad about it yet :)

I'm on Goodreads (username is rubyeskimo). I like the reading challenges. I always set myself a goal of 52 (one for every week of the year) but end up going over! Last year I read 64 books, this year I'm hoping for 65 at least. I really want to beat the total number of pages read though. Last year was 20,000 odd from 64 books. I'm on book 47 now and I'm almost at 19,000 pages read. I blame the Song of Ice and Fire books and the Jo Nesbo ones, those are almost 600 pages each (or more sometimes!)

Doing a book sale at work tomorrow and I need to stay strong and not come home with bags full (i donated 3 bags for life worth) it certainly helped make some room on the bookcase!!
