Just read 'the Sea' by John Banville, one of the list of 1001. I could see why it was in the list, very deep and meaningful, but not really for me. I'm now onto Phillipa Gregory's 'The Women of the Cousins' War', a history about the three women she wrote about in her recent novels. So far, so good, I'm enjoying it, I like her writing style and it's interesting to read the facts behind the novels.
Ps I didn't know about the Kindle deals, I wonder if they work on the tablet app, must try that out, another source of cheap ish reading
i love philippa gregorys books, is it the red queen, white queen and the lady of the rivers you are refering to?
ive read the 2 queen boths but not lady of the rivers yet. was good today and nearly bought it but resisted. is the women of the cousins war a seperate book? if so ill look for that a wellSPC~12 ot 124

Currently reading 'The Book Of Human Skin - Michelle Lovric' Great book.
I am a book addict and buy books faster than I can read them. I am trying to downsize my collection. I have six bookcases full of books and several piles of books in my bedroom. I am hoping to have a good 'sort out' soon and take some of my books to charity shops etc and hopefully avoid buying more from my local charity shops, supermarket!DFD 2020

Yep, that's them, I've read the white queen and the red queen but actually I'm struggling to get into the lady of the rivers. The women of the cousins war is a proper history book about the three women, written by PG and two other people, I'm enjoying it. She explains the difference between history & historical fiction really well - apparently they're a lot closer than you'd think! I bought this for my Mum for Christmas as she's a PG fan too, she enjoyed it but not as much as the fiction books so she gave it back to me - result! This is a system account and does not represent a real person. Can I join please? I haven't read all 113 pages of this thread but it looks very promising!
I have lots of books, but I can't seem to stop buying them. I own thousands but I have (at current count) 110 books I've never read.
I am also not a very monogomous reader! I am currently reading 20,000 leagues under the sea, The House of Mystery - Love Stories for Dead people (graphic novel) by Matthew Sturges and Behind with the Mortgage and living off plastic by Lynnette Allen.Grocery Challenge £114.22/ £1100 -
I finished Love Stories for Dead people (House of Mystery Series).
Its definately a keeper. I own book three but I want to pace myself before I read it - I will read some other stuff first!
It feels like a bit of a cheat as my first one as it's a graphic novel and is read so quickly.Grocery Challenge £114.22/ £1100 -
confession time 2 books have managed to sneak into my tbr pile
50 shades of grey leapt into my basket while shopping at the weekend - only because one of the children will be giving me the lsdady of the rivers for my birthday and they were both on the 2 for £7 offer in tesc0. and the other a lynn andrews only came home with us because the charity shop was doing bogof and dd only wanted one so i HAD to choose the free one.
as pennance i will read two chapters of trime travellers wife tonight (not really a punishment LOL)SPC~12 ot 124

My partner and I have got over a 1000 books between us. I'm very faddy and must have read less than 30%.
I commit to only buying a book if its purchase is financed by other books I've sold!
If I fail, I will post here and do whatever forfeit anyone might suggest!

I finished "Dave Gorman vs the rest of the world" - really enjoyed it. I like how he writes. I have Googlewhack adventure somewhere on my shelf to read so will have to dig it out.
I bought The Pact by Jodi Picolt from a charity shop the other day - I'm not doing very well not buying books lately but I did offset it by taking 2 bags of books there that i'd cleared out. I'm moving house so was trying to be ruthless with what I'm likely to read and what I want to keep.
I started "The Reapers Are The Angels" but then preordered "1.4" by Mike Lancaster which came out yesterday and I'm hoping is waiting for me when I get home so The Reapers will be started again when I have read 1.4 as I've been looking forward to it coming out since I found out it was going to exist!
1.4 is the sequel to 0.4 which is one of my favourite books and is one that I have made most people in my life read! I just hope 1.4 lives up to it.
It wasn't a guilty buy though as it was paid for with the money I got from selling things on Play.com so there's a space on the shelf from the clear out and it was technically free!No more buying books Books in 2016 = 20.
Target for 2018 = 7/21
No more buying DVDs ? 2018 target 27/52

Finished a few more on the Kindle and The Grass is Singing in paper back. Not sure what to start next since I need to be getting on with my OU work! It’s not worth doing something unless someone, somewhere, would much rather you weren’t doing it.
