Yay! Another hunger games fan!! I have only recently discovered the books (well audio books in my case) Downloaded them free from audiable with the code from Mugglecast.

Finished the first one the other day, started the second one last night, they are amazing aren't they?!

Do you know they are making a film out of them, due to be released in 2012!:j

Thanks. I'm just at the bit where shes found out she has to go back!!:eek::eek:
That was a bit of a shocker on the bus this morning!! I always get funny looks on the bus anyway when i'm listening to podcast, and burst out laughing. People must think i'm a bit of a nutter anyway!

I'm finding that listening to audio books takes so much longer than reading the actual books. I do like it though, it's a nice wee change kinda reminds me of when i was little, and my mum used to read to me before bed.

At the moment all other books are on hold until i finish the hunger games trilogy!
  • I've only just seen this thread - made me smile. I have gone a bit mad buying books recently, I got 3 for 30p each a couple of weeks ago, (fund raising stall for local school) and still reading ones I've got. I have books downstairs I'm reading (one about women in the 17th century). Upstairs I have started an autobiography of a Welsh punk rocker (my husband actually bought this),and the story of the journalist who was kidnapped in Beirut (brain fog alert, can't remember the name). Have a pile of books by the bedside now to catch up on!

I do pass books on, share with family and friends and/or to the charity shop (just remembered I acquired a novel last week from someone giving it away! eek) but it has now built up, so this thread echoed what I was telling myself. I have just finished one novel, so will pass that on quite soon.

These are the books I have started and have downstairs. I read them in short spurts as my concentration can be a bit dodgy.

The Weaker Vessel by Antonia Fraser (about 3/4 of the way through)
Whatever Happened to Britain by John Eatwell (nearly finished)
The English Civil War by Tristram Hunt (OH's book)
The Great Rebellion 1642-1660 by Ivan Roots (ditto)
British Constitution made simple by Padfield & Byrne
No More Fears by Dr Douglas Hunt (given by friend having clear out! There's another similar one as well, not started that).

The books I bought myself were all second hand. The only problem with the books above is I don't think I'll want to get rid of them, at least for a while, as they're handy for reference. :( Although I do have 2 novels I have read & decided to pass on, including the one mentioned above.

So need to rein myself in for a while. Good to know there's a club of like minded people :j

  • Forgive me for I have sinned. There was a book sale in aid of the NSPCC last week and my youngest and I just had to go because it was for a good cause (and the books are cheap).I was very controlled and only bought one book, though little'un got four. Technically I suppose I bought five as it was me who paid, but only one was for me.

    Oh dear oh dear. :(

Then I finally got round to listing all the books I haven't read.

    275 !!!!!!!!

Mrs L was not pleased, I can tell you !
  • Your forgiven Mrlevity - I often have a wobble in the name of charity!!

I don't personally count little man's purchases of books - I rarely buy him them new and I think discouraging him from reading is a crime!!

Anyway just returned from a few days away, so just caught up on everyones readings! I read Louise Candlish's I'll be There for You which was dreadfully slow but improved towards the end, and Debbie Macombers 44 Cranberry Port, which was great! (but I am a bit biased as love this series)

Just started Judy Astley's Laying the Ghost...
