wave.gifHi there! This is the Daily Thread for Tuesday 9th Feb.It is an 'Over the garden fence' type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
Please do not start a new Daily Thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two Dailys' live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new Daily Thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “Hi everyone, hope you are all well” type start is just as good.
Morning OS lovelies, yawn2.gif
welcome2.gifNewlywed - Good to have you with us. Sorry to read about your redundancy and hope you find something new soon. In the meantime you can embrace your new OS lifestyle some more!
Lowesy - Still thinking of you both
Heavenleigh - Hope you feel a little better today hon.
Jackie0 - Your birthday sounds so lovely. I am glad you had a great day, you deserved it.
Tiredmum - I spoke to Tris on messenger the night before last. He is receiving therapy to help with his breathing but is frustrated because when on the treadmill he cannot walk too far yet, but I am trying to persuade him to be more patient. Not easy for him.
Redruby - it's lovely to see you enjoying your new house and Aga so much!
Mioliere - Hope you are having a great time with your family hon.
SunnyGirl - Did you lose the use of your texting finger?? themoticonenmoado.jpggiggle.gif
Bargainbird - Hope your back feels better today.
Sandy - big hugs.gif hon
Lamewolf - well done on all the baking. My oven is so small we cannot fit more than two trays in there when I bake, so it all has to queue.. giggle.gif
Hester - I am so happy your husbands first day went well.
Penpin - Still thinking of you and your family at this sad time
Anguk - Hope Martyn is continuing to do well.
Bitsy - Well done on the CM job!
The hospital appt went well and I also had a retina scan for my diabetes which was my first one. We think we got snapped going through an amber/red light which is annoying. We were pulling away from a feeder lane and unfortunately my OH was distracted.
HShungry.gif Breakfast is Weetabix and bananas (and don't tell the OH but I have been watering down his semi skimmed milk the last few days giggle.gif). Lunch will be pasta with some tinned toms, onion, peppers and garlic cooked and stirred through with grated cheese on top and dinner will be an Indian takeaway as we have friends coming down for the evening to play board games which is always a lot of fun and not a little raucous!
Have bought some compost in to warm up a little and hopefully at the weekend I will get all my seeds started. I have tomatoes and peppers and chillies to do urgently and then some others to do next week.
I hope everyone's week starts well, and that anyone feeling poorly head%20cold.gif feels better soon. With love, light and HShuggies.gif for all.

    Morning everyone :)

Im a long time lurker of this tread and thought, as its my birthday today, Im going to show my face lol.

Living in a small village in Derbyshire not a lot goes on and my days are just like groundhog day so it will be nice to break the routine :) I still have to get ds to school and do the toast club for the little ones at the school (its amazing how many kids turn up not having had breakfast).

I am off work tonight so a nice relaxing day catching up with my jewelery making and hopefully make a bag too with the fabric from my charity shop finds :)

Well this is going to be a start of dropping in more often and hoping to make some nice friends :)
Getting myself sorted 1 day/1thing at a time :) and Love sewing :)

    Good Morning All

Hart44 - hello & happy birthday, have a great day

Brrr its so cold here, left the heating on low all night as OH is getting up really early for work at the moment and it was still hard getting out of bed.

Can't wait to get this morning out of the way, have a smear at the docs (sorry if TMI this early in the morning :rotfl:) and I just know that the nurses room will be like the Artic!

Spent some money yesterday, someone had posted a sale on a jewellry site on the grabbit board, spent a bit too much but have now got loads of birthday pressies for this year - and some for Christmas. Have treated myself too :o.

Plans today - get doctors over and done with. Office work and ironing. Making a lasagne for dinner tonight and making loads of cups of tea for the bricklayers if they turn up to do the garage today.

Got some dried cranberries from tesco yesterday so hope to make some cranberry muffins. Need to have a little stock take of my baking cupboard as havn't used it much lately.

    Have a good day.x

Oh and glad the hospital went well Diva.

    Good morning all :)

Didn't have a very good night last night, so feeling quite tired this morning, especially after yesterday's activities.

Anyway, it's Chinese day today :j

I've got most of my contribution to the event finished - I just need to make up some packs of noodles, as we are going to have a raffle, where they have to find their ticket amongst the noodles, with chop sticks :D

My friends have thought up some great activities, so alongside what I've done, I'm hoping it will be a successful session.

I need to get a few bits and pieces in later, and DD wants to get her birthday cake, once we've done our session, so we should be finished round about three.

Yum yum chicken for dinner tonight, which wont take too long to prepare, and then a nice easy day to look forward to, tomorrow.

Hope you all have a good day :)

Hugs to those in need or poorly :)

    Good morning,

Diva Apologies, yesterday left me feeling a little dizzy.gif How's the hip after your hospital journey? Mad for you that OH was distracted and was snapped going through a red light - it infuriates me when that happens!

Hart44 welcome2.gif My days are generally like Groundhog Day so know the feeling, although I'm starting on a course for women returners to work on the 22nd so it'll be a bit more chaotic from now on. HSbirthday_surprise_smiley.gif Happy Birthday too!

Essex Girl A necessary evil at the docs - hope the room is not too arctic like for you.

Busy yesterday but enjoyable. The taster session went very well and I start properly on the 22 Feb. The hours are nice 10am - 2pm Mon to Thurs. The hardest thing was trying to organise holiday play schemes for my youngest. I don't want to leave his brothers & sister responsible for him as they will invariably not be happy & be tempted to leave him to it - typical teens really! I sorted a nice one out eventually so will take him to see it next week when he's off for half term.

Going to my Mum's this morning as she has a urine infection and one of her wounds is infected too. She's feeling rotten at the moment poor thing. I'll be dusting & vaccing through and doing any ironing that's there. I also need to show her how to send emails so she can communicate for free as it were.

Lunch will be minestrone soup that I found lurking in the freezer & tea is baked potatoes with a choice of beans/cheese/tuna & salad.

Have a good day everyone & I'll catch up again later on.

    Morning everyone.

Very early start today so I definately think a nap this afternoon is in order. Got to pop and do a small shop for milk, carrots and a few other things. <Repeat as a mantra> I will not spend more than I need :o Grocery budget's been a little off lately - not by much but still need to keep a firm hand LOL!
Other than pushing round a duster and some washing not much else happening here.
Tea will be erm....erm....erm pass :rotfl: Just can't get my butt into gear regarding that. Get too distracted with [STRIKE]MSE[/STRIKE] doing jobs and the evenings seem to fly by.
Spoke to the Dr about my iron results yesterday. They are apparantly well below even half of what they should be  Took the plunge and opted for the mirena (although being told to take pain killers before hand makes me slighty nervous - I don't know why, labour was surely far more painful than this is ever likely to be :rotfl:) so will have to wait for an appointment to come through for that.

Diva - did you OH get a ticket or just a lecture?

hart - :bdaycake: Happy Birthday  Hope you have a fab day. Glad you decided to de-lurk and come and join us :D I'd kill to live in a little village away from the suburbs so although it might be a bit Groundhog day it seems very appealing to me :D

Essex-girl - hmmm one time I had a smear the nurse decided to warm up the equipment under the hot tap for my comfort. Nearly hit the roof as it was a wee bit warm for certain places shall we say  Gimme cold steel anyday! Hope it goes well - lie back and think of England ;)

Pipkin - Enjoy your Chinese day - sounds like fun :j

Threads seems really quiet last few days. Where is everyone? Come on all you lurkers step out the woodword and join us :D
Have a good day OS or not. Hugs to those that need them.

    Hello,
Well I have finished my forms yesterday so have woken up feeling very relieved and that a weight has been lifted. It took all day yesterday and then i had to photocopy loads of stuff to enclose! I need to take it all to the Post Office to send Special Delivery and that will be it for a few weeks.:j

No OS for a couple of days but to be honest I feel like going on strike as kids dont appreciate what I do / organise. My parents turned up unexpectedly yesterday and were quite surprised by state of house. Fortunately my mum knew by the look in my eye not to push it  She listened to me bad mouthing my kids without defending them as she could see I had enough. I said that it would be better if they had not called in as I was in such a sad place today. She said that I was her daughter and of course she wanted to see me. Perhaps that is what your mum meant Ladyshopper....not that she didnt want to see your kids but that she wanted to see you x

I will have to get some stuff organised today but Im also going to watch Lark Rise. I live very close to the villages/ towns where it was originally based in the books and Im a bit of a fan. I read the books when i was a youngster and never thought Id live so close. It got me really interested in the history and Flora Thompson's life history.

We had snow yesterday but it didnt settle. I think there will be more on its way. My doggies have been clipped so will feel the cold but they were so fluffy.

    Have a good day...Im off for a cuppa x

    Monrning all,

Happy Birthday to Hart, keep posting x

Bitterly cold here, there was gale force winds here last night, I got up in the night to use the loo, and heard what I thought was a chain saw going, so I am wondering if a tree or something has come down.

I cleaned the upstairs windows yesterday, and the difference is amazing (for any new posters, its not my muck :o, we have only recently moved in :D), the water was black when I poured it away, and Its nice to be able to see out of them :o

Today will see more cleaning and washing, we went and picked out some wallpaper samples yesterday which we have stuck on the wall, I want to see what they look like in the daylight.

Dinner tonight will be 2 tiny lamb chops which I found in the freezer, and 2 tiny lamb neck fillets, we have the vet at 5.30, so will do something that can be left in the oven while I am gone.

Not long now till dd's trip to Spain, I just wish Monday would come quick, so that I could get her back quicker :o, I know she will have a great time, but I hate it when she is away.

Ladyshopper, I hope you make it up with your mum, I fell out with mine recently, and its horrible xxx

Haribo, hope you are ok xx

    Have fun all x

Essex girl, good luck for today xx

    Morning all

Love and hugs to those who are sad or poorly.

Dark, cold and a very light sprinkling of snow here. OH on early start again this morning but I stayed up late last night so didn't wake when he left this morning.

Had a change of dinner from the menu plan. OH, DS1 and DS2 had chicken nuggets, chips, b/beans/veg and I had fish, jacket sweet potato and veg with cake or yogurt and fruit for dessert. Tonight's dinner will be pork chops, potatoes, veg, leftover yorkshires and gravy - should keep everyone happy. Yesterday at work was manic - we have several staff off and some off sick so was rather busy - hopefully today will be a little quieter!

DS1 has developed a really horrible cough and sore throat but now seems to be over the worst - I bet it goes round all of us and I'm off with the children next week for half term, ho hum!! Managed to get a wash done yesterday and got it onto the airer to dry as heating on so much at the moment, will put in another load before work if I have enough. The HM baking I did at the weekend doesn't seem to have lasted long, although I didn't make as much, think I need to make some more today or tomorrow - possible I'll put a fruit loaf on in the BM tonight - shall have to make a note for future. I'm keeping on top of the general housework and it's making everything so much easier on a day to day basis.

Not much other OS to report time to get ready for work.

Keep safe and well everyone, hugs to those that need them.

    Thank you sunnygirl :)

I did the options for women course along time ago lol and loved it, in fact so much so a lot of us women on the course signed up for another term :)

I learnt so much and it gave me loads of confidence, which I needed as I had gone through a tuff divorce that yr.
I know you will love it :D
