DS has asked for a Tom Baker Style Dr Who scarf as part of his Xmas pressie so I need to start to start knitting it. If I start now it might be done by Xmas.
I'll make knitting my lenten skill - love this idea btw!
I made one of those when Tom Baker was first on telly as The Doctor: can I advise not to use basic knitting as it tends to get bigger and bigger widthwise as time goes on:eek: Knit one purl one might be better but I'm sure a better knitter will be around soon to give advice:D‘Keep your eye on the donut and not on the hole.’ David Lynch.

Hi can i join inspired by the household book thread i thought i'd make one and try to get organised to become more old style. Then maybe next year i could try something ambitious like remembering how to knit .
ps pp i love your quilt, can only dream of becoming so talented :j0 -
What a lovely idea... I think for lent I am going to pick up my cross stitching (which hasn't been touched in a year) and finally get it finished! It's 30,000 stitches and I'm at under 20,000 completed in 3 years!!!
I think I am defiantly going to try and finish it for lent
Ps. Just read other posts... I will set aside 1 hour a day for my project... will post a picture in 40 days to prove I have done it (this is some incentive)! We spend money we don't have, on things that we don't need, to impress people we don't like. I'm teaching someone at work to crochet, does that count. I can knit, sew, crochet & cook, I'd love the chance to pass on my skills to other people for free, but find it difficult to find people who want to learn.

I shall start with sewing up the crotchet squares on the blanket I'm doing for DGD's bed and also the jumper I'm knitting for me. ( I need to have a change every so often! I could, realistically finish both!) Finding an hour is really quite easy - just means cutting out an hour on the laptop.
OK so that's why I actually worked on a nightdress that must have been cut out about four years ago - not the blanket and not the knitting!! Still it does count as definitely a longstanding project - just not either of the ones I'd planned. That's me for you!Resolution:

I'm a bit late joining as have been under the weather and not been doing anything. I am going to take up cross stitch, I have never done it before and am taking advice from someone at work.whoever said laughter was the best medicine has clearly never tasted wine
