I had same problem with surf tropical (tabs in bag ones) and it didn't get stains out either. Went back to using Bold.

  • Try eco balls available from "natural collection", negates the need for soap powder at all! I changed to these when I had the same problem. They're totally reusable, no chemicals, and perfect for families where kids have allergies to powder etc. I wash my reusable nappies with them and don't have any problems with stain removal.

I had this problem but only when I used a 30degree wash. Re-read the instruction booklet and it says that they recommend a liquid detergent on a 30degree wash. Might not be your problem but you never know.

I need help. I recently decided that I will buy Sainsbury's own non-bio washing powder. Now I have started getting white marks on dark clothes.

What do I do to get the marks off? I have tried re-washing, it didn't work and I have also tried just rinsing again. Any ideas?

Or do I go back to using branded liquid?

    Thanks

I tended to find I got white marks too - it was mainly because the machine wasn't breaking down the powder and left a residue. I used a little less and didn't pack the washing machine to breaking point and the problem disappeared itself. I'm sure someone else has had this problem and can give clearer advice though

If your washing machine has a filter, make sure that it's clear (it may just not be draining properly).

Don't overfill the machine, especially when you're washing heavy items like jeans and towels.

Use less powder, or use Lidl limescale tablets if you're in a very hard water area (not Calgon as it's too expensive, and not shop's own brand because they leave even more white marks). The Lidl's limescale tablets are much cheaper and better than anything else on the market that I've found.

Check that you're washing at the correct temperature recommended for the powder - you have to wash at lower temperatures for Bio powders than for non-bio.

Always wash your coloured clothes inside out as washing powders leach the colour out, so that keeps the fading on the inside. Also any residue.

I hope that helps - it's made me realise that I need to get out more!

I have just endured two hours of ironing and noticed that some of my t shirts still have white marks on them, despite being washed twice now.
They look like the sort of marks you get from deodorant, but they are on the front at the bottom.
They look sort of like crease marks.
Any ideas, how I get rid of the marks...or do I just bin the t shirts?

Did you ever get the stains out as I have the same marks - you described them well which I am sure is deodrant.
