its rubbish to say birthdays and xmas are for kids only. Adults like to be remembered too. Why do some people think everything is for kids!

    Yes i remember them.

I undertand the point about not wanting to seem petulant, but there are ways of donig things that don't come across as petty - I have a friend who loves her birthday and she gives us all a countdown so there's no excuse to forget, plus organising something for your friends on your birthday is a great way to ermind everyone that it's coming!

If you find that your friends can't do anything because of its proximity to Christmas, could you move it - make it a tradition to celebrate your birthday on the first weekend after Jan payday or similar so that you aren't expecting people to celebrate when they're recovering from the physical and financial strains of Christmas?

I try and remember all OH's family birthdays so get a teeny bit narked if I don't get a card from them on mine:o. What REALLY annoys me is the total lack of acknowledgement for both DS's birthdays from OHs siblings- if they are lucky enough to get a card they never get them on time and years have gone by when certain siblings haven't acknowleged either of them are alive at all on their birthdays:mad: It has improved slightly from one particular sibling- funnily enough when they had a child themselves:cool:
I think it's because my family remember and acknowledge ALL birthdays I guess, that i think others should be the same. Not at all bohtered about pressies but a card only costs pence !!!!!!

what annoyed me about my birthday (yesterday) is that my mother gave me my card a week ago but didnt ring on the actual day to say happy birthday she always expects me to ring, i do when its her birthday or my dads to say Happy Birthday, it doesent cost much does it too ring and say Happy birthday, today it is the oh's birthday and even though his mum gave him his presents and cards the other day she still rung and said happy birthday and rung me too to say happy birthday. Well they do say that you can pick your friends but not family.
But the best birthday present was from all my comping friends who i dont know personally who sent me happy birthday wishes via facebook, twitter and in the compers inn:D
    to be updated:;)

I make sure in advance that everyone knows it's my BD, not in an I demand pressies kind of way, in fact my friends and I don't exchange gifts. It is just so that I can share my special day with those I care about. I wish other people would do the same as I always forget birthdays and I feel awful when I do!
Taking responsibility one penny at a time!

My birthday is on 26th Dec - so no-one's ever free and, to be honest, I'm glad of the rest after Xmas day. I usually end up doing exactly what I want, its MY day.

There is a sorta Zen solution to the birthday problem:
Don't tell anyone. If you get no cards - no problem cos no-one knows. However if you do get a card it means someone cares enough to find out when your birthday is.

My brother forgot my birthday one year, which I casually mentioned to Mum :o, and the following year I had a call on my birthday from him and his whole family (him, his GF and their 4 girls) all singing Happy Birthday. Best birthday ever.. one I'll never forget, and a complete suprise as I was expecting him to forget again.

I always make an effort to remember people's birthdays so it does grate on me if people don't remember.
I don't mind if it is a simple mistake but my birthday is the same day as two of my friends and one family member so it annoys me if someone close remembers theirs and not mine.
