Well today did not go as expected. I decided to put the shelf unit up in the bathroom, I am sure the walls are made of meringue.....I ended up having to drill two new holes further across, we have lost a large bag of rawlplugs which did not help. I know they are here but I cannot find them. I discovered the source of the smell in the bathroom, I thought it was the carpet, in fact it was the blind, the back of it was covered in mould spores. I do not think the previous tenants ever opened the windows. I now have to find the polyfiller to fill in the first lot of holes I made. I am lothe to start on the walls in the kitchen in case they are as bad......I think I will leave them until DS2 comes. Will have to put up with the kitchen being a dump for another couple of weeks.

Then thought I would look at the units for the litchen, it quickly became obvious that they would NOT go under the work top even though we measured them twice before I bought them.

So after the lady had collected the wardrobe boxes we had a quick lunch and high tailed it back to Ikea, refund of £80....thank you.....when we got back the coal man had been and dropped the coal for the fire....he was supposed to be coming tomorrow, first time I have ever had coal delivered on Sunday!!!

We stopped in the village on the way back to get a paper and I found myself steered towards the bowls club, nice club house with a bar; OH has had his application signed by the necessary 2 members he just has to fill the rest of it in and pay his dues. Apparently the retirees have a games afternoon on Monday during the winter, so next week ne will be going to that. This Tuesday I am going to the quilting group in North Berwick, thats if I can find the school where they hold their meetings.

Pork chops for supper, discovered when I went to put the steamer on that the removers had broken the timer knob, so something else to replace. I opened a bottle of champer, OH had bucks fizz, I partook of a couple of glasses, so feel quite mellow just now.

Question: the hob in the kitchen is stainelss steel with sealed hot plates, every one of the plates has a thick burnt on grease deposit round it.....any ideas how I can get it off??? I am reluctant to use any scouring stuff on it as it might scratch the surface, at some point in the next 2 years the oven and hob will be replaced, to be honest the hob looks really scruffy.........

We are spending the evening listening to the radio.......Alan Titchmarsh on just now nice selection of music, will have to watch LRTC on Iplayer tomorrow.

You were talking of having the telephone point moved yesterday by BT, however, have your considered one of the phone sets where one is plugged into the main BT plus and another (or others) and then just be plugged into any electrical socket, thus avoiding the cost? Something like this

    Hi folks

    Happy Birthday JackieO!!! :j:j:j:j:j

Been to my DB & DSIL's for a belated family get together today. Had a lovely time eating delicious homemade food, showing off DGD's social skills and generally just chatting.

I supplied a strawberry pavlova and a chocolate trifle and have left the remains in their fridge to go on their hips not mine!! ;)

Spent the rest of the afternoon chilling as I've got a busy week ahead.

Tea was a sort of ploughman's with HM sausage rolls, YS cheese, pickles & HM bread.

Sorry to here of your loss PP & hugs to nic for yesterday.

    Leigh I think you're doing a brilliant job :A

Hugs to anyone else in need.

Hi everyone. Another late update from me! We've had a very busy day and managed to get the painting finished! We're hoping to go walking tomorrow but still got a few jobs to do. Teas was at OH's mum's, very tasty (and free!) but they are a family of skinny minnies and his mum doesn't seem to understand that I'm on a diet! Ah well, I can't be blamed for being naughty if I have no choice! ATleast the painting should have burnt a few calories off!

I had a popcorn disaster last night. Won't bore you on here as I'm going to do a seperate thread asking for some advice. Oh was most amused to discover I'm not a domestic goddes afterall!!! Even so, was very MS. We intended going to the cinema which would probably have cost £15-£20. Instead we bought a cheap dvd and some popcorn and spent £3.50!!!

    Night all x

Donny, we already have those phones the reason we need the BT point moved is because we get our broadband down the phone line via Sky and you need a power point adjacent to the phone line IYSWIM, its a pain, the telephone point is in the hall miles away from where the TV is. We are tied into Sky for another 6 months.......otherwise I would look at changing suppliers. The TV reception here is not good.......I had considered freestat, but it would take us more than a year to recover the initail costs. I have to ring Sky tomorrow, not looking forward to it, they mucked us about when they installed sky in our last house, did not give us the right information when I rang up and ordered it. Hopefully as I have the bxs and router it will not be so bad this time.

    Evening everyone

A late one from me, been MIA as been away for the weekend. Just got back late afternoon and ds2 been dropped of by his dad and has now just gone to bed. Over the weekend my oh and I have been looking at locations of where we are going to live once we get married. Loughton/Epping is looking favourite as surrounded by countryside but commutable into London for my oh. The primary schools are ok but the highschools are coming up as very good in their special needs category which is what I am looking for as my ds2 is statemented and struggles but will be moving to high school in 2 years time. Not much os for me today, but have made a list for tomorrow.

JackieO - hope you had a lovely birthday
Molly - Hope your day improved
Anguk - Great news that Martyn is continuing to improve.
Pennypincher - sorrry to hear of the loss of your FIL. Thinking of you and your family.
heavenleigh sending ((Hugs)) Take 1 day at time. Hope things get easier for you.

Hugs to anyone who needs or wants one. Take Care

Heavenleigh....as someone just said, take one day at a time and make sure that you are availing of all benefits and other help that you may be entitled to....hugs to you all.

Had 2 legs off roast chicken with roast onions and potatoes and green beans....didn't have pudding but then ate the four pancakes we left after breakfast this morning....need whipping!

Still feeling the cold, heat is on way too much and there are fires in living room and kitchen as well.

Hugs to all who are in need or want for any reason. Sleep well all
