Morning all!
CCP I have used the meal creator part of the FitnessPal site, I thought it would be woefully complicated but wasn't too bad. It gives you approximate weights/serving size for things like onions, peppers etc so you only really have to weigh the meat which is generally on the pack then you divide the recipe by how many servings, which does mean equal servings so that gets harder in our house with big eater DH and little kids to share with! I entered a suet pastry quiche I made and added it to the database for others to use too. I think I also did a pie. Things that I can cut up to even portions so I know I'm getting it right! Other foods I cook from scratch I either enter one ingredient at a time or for big things like bolognese I just use the calorie amount for a recipe someone else entered, it should be roughly right.
TravellingAbuela That soup recipe sounds delicious, not ever so cheap maybe but cheaper than the tins and a lot nicer - I have to say the gloopy texture of tinned soup does put me off a bit. Will add the ingredients to my shopping list. Smoked Paprika or normal? I think I have both.
I did get the scales out this morning, to see if I was right about the hormonal bloating as I felt a lot lighter this morning. I WAS right, the pounds I put on over the last 10 days had magically gone! I did feel the water retention going last night ( I had to wee a lot lol) so I wanted to check. Hoping to get under the 166lb mark tomorrow for official weigh in which would put me up to 4lb off so far, swimming tonight so I may manage it. Cramps this morning so no school run, minimal housework and a conciliatory Rocky Caramel bar...June Grocery Challenge £493.33/£500 July £/£500

Morning all.
ragz - thanks for that - it doesn't sound nearly as complicated as I feared. I'll give it a go and see how I get on.
Bitsy / Molly - it makes sense for you not to post your meals if that doesn't work for you: one of the great things about this thread is that there's no fixed way of doing things and we can all just do what works best for us, but with lots of support from nice people.I only post my meal plans for my own reference, really - I don't suppose anyone else is that interested that I have a cheese and tomato sandwich for lunch, even if the tomatoes are home grown ones which I'm pathetically pleased with.
TA - that soup recipe sounds lovely - thanks very much. :T I'd never thought of using soft cheese to make a creamy soup - I'll have to try that.
My day today:
B - two wheat biscuits with raisins and SS milk
S - probably a slice of a colleague's yummy-looking birthday cake - as she's been to the effort of getting a chocolate-free cake so it's suitable for me, it would be very rude not to have a slice, wouldn't it?
L - cheese and HG tomato sandwich on HM brown bread; apple; LF mango yoghurt
S - (if I need one - I haven't been hungry in the afternoon for most of this week) two plums
D - Thai-spiced fishcake (a RM one) with Thai veg curry
Exercise - probably a walk at lunchtime, as usual.
Have a good day, all.Back after a very long break!0 -
Thanks to a very kind friend I'm back on line after 2 days in solitary.
Yesterdays meals
B - boiled egg, soldiers
D - small bowl left over steak/mash, green salad
T - snack panini with yogurt & marmalade, apple
Snacks - melon. satsumas, pear, mini cornetto
Exercise - very little I'm afraid, slept most of the day after Mondays effort
Todays will be
B 2 slices toast with yogurt & marmalade
D - last of the left over ssteak/mash & green salad
T - one egg omelette with pepper/tomato/onion/grated carrot filling
Snacks - satsumas, pear, apple, mini cornetto - was just at the end of them when dear neighbour bought me a box!
Exercise - gardening while it's dry. Sunny atm but very blowy so will do what I can while the breath holds out. Could be almost the last few bits, will have to find an active indoor during the colder weather.
ETA Welcome to even more newbies, it's getting pretty crowded in here but as we're all getting thinner there's always room for more0 -
Butternut Squash Soup Recipe
I've just had a bowl of this for lunch and it tasted delicious.
2 medium onions chopped
Butternut squash (peeled and deseeded) chopped into chunks.
Saute both the above in a bit of butter. Add stock to cover (I used ham stock as I had some to use up but any would do or a chicken stock cube made up with water). Simmer until soft. Liquidise. If too thick thin down with milk (I used skimmed) or water (or if feeling extravagant a bit of cream).
You could sprinkle with chopped parsley to serve but I just added lots of pepper - but no salt as the stock was very salty. I've put about half a pint in the fridge and another similar size container in the freezer plus today's bowlful so not very expensive.Weight Loss Challenge 5/7/19 10st 6lbs

Interestingly (well...) I have saved the liquid I boiled a smoked gammon joint in last night, in case I could make soup with it. I wondered if it would be too fatty and salty though?June Grocery Challenge £493.33/£500 July £/£500

Rose Wood and Travelling Abuela, thanks for those soup recipes, will try those they sound lovely. I have just hired a beach hut over winter and have a little one ring gas burner so soup would be perfect. It's also good as there are no snacks around!
I am pleased to say I lost 3lb this week which I am delighted. I think I have walked more and been busy with my beach hut so no time for snacking!0 -
Good afternoon all,
Well am having a bit of a funny old day. Something is dragging me down but i can't think what!
Food today:
B - coffee and skinny porridge
S - no time as usual
L - sandwich and crisps
S - fruit (banana and apple)
D - not sure yet
S - pinapple pieces and frozen yogurt
Exercise: Usual 1 hour walking but not really in the mood for much else. Plus have a 1 hour 'mark marking' workshop  at the twins new school so better go and see what they want of me!
Have a good evening all :T0 -
Annie...a beach hut? Its winter! Or is it that you need a retreat? Actualy I like the sound if that.
Must try the soup recipes, I threw away the stock form cooking a gammon on Sunday as it was far too salty, but ragz to remove the fat you can just put it in the fridge then lift of the solidified fat.
Pretty tired again today, I'll be going off to the quack at this rate but it only hits me in the afternoon, I'm oK in the morning so I think its more lack of sleep than anything serious. It playing havok with my eating though."doing the best you enjoy, not the best you can tolerate, is truly the best you can do sustainably."0 -
Evening All,
RAGZ, the ham stock I used for my soup was some I had left over from boiling a gammon joint so yours should be ok. As Liz says, you can just cool it and skim off any fat.
DH and I went out for a meal this evening to a local carvery - only £3.69 each which is great value. I always turn down the Yorkshire puddings, stuffing and roast potatoes though.:(
B: Toast with blackcurrant jam
L: Butternut squash soup (recipe above). Apple.
S: Banana.Roast gammon, cabbage, green beans, peas, cauliflower cheese. When we got home I also had some apple crumble and custard.
Exercise: 1 and 3/4 hours of Pilates. About 2 miles of walking in total with classes, library etc.
