That's what I'd do. I'm viewing this as a long-term thing, where I behave like the person I'd be happy to be forever (the 'Act as if...' method!). I don't want to be Mrs Stuffalot, the 'constantly bingeing without a purpose' kind of person that I'd let myself become up until a few months ago. Neither do I want to be the kind of person who exists on a piece of toast and an apple every day and regards having two extra baked beans as 'a blow-out' (I've been her for a while in the past too, and she was every bit as unhealthy and ridiculous as Mrs Stuffalot was).

I know I could lose half a stone in a week if I wanted to, because I've done it before - lots of times. Which is the point. No one can keep up such extremes unless the goal is to starve to death, and without having practiced moderation you have no other experiences to fall back into after losing your weight, other than those that got you to where you were when you started. Which leads to repeated loss of the same weight over and over, often with even more poundage to keep it company.

I've been at this since April and know that even if I'd adopted a more extreme approach and managed to stick it out, I'd still be on the same never-ending bumpy path. It's far better to find the middle road that you were always meant to be on anyway. It's one that I'm comfortable with taking for life - it's realistic, which is the very opposite of 'kidding yourself'. Enjoy your Chinese :)

  • Morning all. Once again I stuck to plan all day yesterday and then fell by the wayside at 10.30 p.m. I should have just gone to bed but, instead, I was tempted by a nightcap (large glass of red wine), which was then followed by another, and then a bag of crisps fell into my hands. Needless to say I am full of remorse this morning! Oh well, back up on the wagon. Today's menu:

B - Special K with choc bits. Slice Nimble toast.
L - Chicken, cauli cheese (LF sauce) new pots, peas. SF jelly, strawberries, FF vanilla yogurt.
D - Ham, salad & pasta (with remains of LF cheese sauce). WW berry fromage frais with mixed berries.
    S - Grapes, satsumas & pineapple

Exercise - a mounting pile of ironing and later some much needed gardening.

Morning all. Weigh-in day, and I've Stayed The Same. Not entirely unexpected, especially after yesterday, when I treated myself to a carrot cake with cream cheese topping. I didn't really expect to go a bundle on it as I'm not particularly a 'cake' person (show me a loaf of bread and it's a different story!). I've probably had about two slices of cake since I started this and not missed it, but yesterday... well, four slices of carrot cake do form a substantial part of your 'five a day', don't they? ;) I also ended up in the pub yesterday afternoon too. No alcohol, but I can't kid myself that a couple of Red Bulls contained any beefy protein :)

It's my birthday today, and it's already been such a lovely reminder of what fabulous family and friends surround me every day that not being able to record a weight loss this week doesn't even register as the tiniest disappointment. There will be other weigh-in days - this is the life, and I'm more than content to forego any amount of calorie-laden junk to live it. Waffling incomprehensibly here I know - I'm just having one of those rare and wonderful mornings where you're walking so tall and feeling so big with gratitude inside that you wonder how it's possible to fit in your own skin :)

As usual, I hope everyone else is feeling the buzz too, and that bathroom scales everywhere are feeling kind and generous as well :) Have a good week, everyone, and lay off the carrot cake - it seems to make people 'high' :) xx

    Afternoon all.

Ida - a very happy birthday to you. _party_

    My day goes:

B - two slices spelt bread with peanut butter; handful of fresh cherries
S - portion of dried fruit and pumpkin seeds
D - possibly nothing - I was involved in a minor car accident earlier and the shock has entirely killed my appetite. I can't even have a drink at the pub quiz later to settle my nerves, as I'm on antibiotics - it will be fruit juice, I think. :(

I hope everyone else has had a better day than I've had! ;)
Back after a very long break!

Not sure which forum this should go in but here goes.

If you want to lose weight and need a pic to put on your fridge, forget about the pics of overweight people, cream cakes etc take a look at this instead.

Five pounds isn't a great deal of extra weight to carry but when you see what that would look like in your fridge..............

Eat an extra 3500 calories and that makes 1lb of body fat as shown below.
