don't know how do make a link but here is the recipe, it was posted by thecake on thread "Is homemade Bread Cheaper" on the OS board (general consensus was yes, it is cheaper)

"250ml liquid: I use about 2/3 water and 1/3 milk
    30ml extra virgin olive oil
175g well drained tinned chick peas
    500g strong white bread flour
    1.5 teaspoons salt
    2 teaspoons sugar
1 sachet easy blend dried yeast

My BM is the Kenwood Rapid-Bake (£5 in a charity shop last year, and now my absolute favourite kitchen helper ..) I used programme 2, which is the basic large white loaf. The loaf came out very light, moist and with a slightly nutty flavour, and little dark specks."

Had one horrid moment today, met someone I used to work with years ago, we've a mutual friend who told me she spoke to her later and she'd said she couldn't believe how fat I've gotten.

Oh springy, how horrible for you. nasty person. Try and turn it into a positive, think "i'll show her" and use it as a spur to your weight loss.

If anyone feels sorry for me on a diet, they shouldn't! I just had a great lunch. Sandwich, salad and fruit. But here is my salad recipe.

    Bag of economy carrots.
2 lemons (from an economy bag)
    1 small diced red onion
    inch of fresh ginger
    12 cardemom seeds
2 or 3 cloves of garlic (if you're in understanding company)
    a red or green chilli

I've been half filling a big bowl with grated carrot, mix in the diced onion, and then grate the ginger, finely chop the garlic and chilli (removing seeds), add the lemon juice. The cardemom seeds need to be removed from their shells which is a bit fiddly but its worth it honest! Mix it all together, you can use a dash of olive oil but I've not bothered with that and it hasn't made any difference.

This amount generally is good for 2 of us for 3 days along with a handful of tomatos in the top of the bowl.

Also I have been sprouting lentils and added some of these in to bulk it out. I was reading about superfoods and trying to incorporate as many things as I can into the diet.

We're dieting on a budget and we don't buy any ready meals. Morrisons are great for fruit and veg but they change their prices and you have to keep an eye on them. We buy whatever is on offer.

Anyway good luck everyone with your dieting and hope some of you like my recipe!

Hopefully back on the bandwagon (again) tomorrow.
Will need to weigh myself to know where i am there, but am/have been struggling, especially with lunches for work plus feeling a bit low in myself/comfort eating, clothes feeling a little snug and need to start dealing with things than comfort eating.
Im terrible at buying things like crisps and biscuits for lunch at work, i really need inspiration for a snack to go with my sandwich, plus an alternative to a sandwich (im vegetarian and live on low fat cheese spread, marmite or peanut butter).
Im (like most watching the pennies and begrudge spending more than necessary) and kinda stuck in a rut of eating the same food. Mainly sandwiches, crisps, porridge, toast, some cereal, beans on toast and just crap.

UnluckyT - if you make extra for dinner you can take the left-overs for lunch at work the next day - most pasta dishes work well, as do soups, casseroles, salads based on anything other than lettuce (as it tends to go soggy if left) - even my favourite noodle stirfry dish works well for lunch, as I discovered a few weeks ago. :D If you don't have a microwave at work, most things (except possibly soup) are just as good cold.

There's some more nice ideas on the Good Food website, here - not all recipes are vegetarian but it might give you some ideas.

I sympathise with you about the comfort eating thing - I've started taking veggie sticks to work to nibble on which seems to do the trick for me, and won't cost any more than a daily bag of crisps if you pick veggies which are on special offer.

I hope that gives you some ideas. :)

Oh, and Lazy Liz - thanks for the bread recipe - I'll be trying that within the next week or so. :D
Back after a very long break!
