Thanks for the quick reply ragz! Sorry to say but I know this thread is about money saving, and with lots of deals going around on grabbit forum my freezer is full of finest foods, so yes the quarter lasagne was probably about 250 cals and the kievs are about 500 cals for 1 portion, so to save a bit of money I cut it in half and had 1 half for dinner and the other half for lunch next day! I'm being precise (probably wont last long!), because I'm trying my best to be as truthful as I possible can, and try and list everything that has gone in my mouth. So the portion might sound small but I am eating high fat food, I will only be eating low fat only if I truly truly love it otherwise I will definately refuse it!
Thanks for your help, believe me it is very much appreciated , I need all the help I can get. As far as my weight I feel too embarrassed to post it on here, I am very ashamed of myself! But I have at least 59lbs to lose:((((
I cannot find the link for the bmi could you point it out for me please, and I read at the beginning of the thread someone said they had signed a pledge could you tell me waht that is also. And One last question is what is your story, have you just started or have you been doing this for a while?
Thanks!!!0 -
GiGi123 Here's the link to the BMR calculator, it also has a BMI calculator if you don't already know your BMI. BMR is the amount of calories you need in a day (this depends on weight and also changes with age and food intake, the website will have more info) as if you are heavier you will need use more calories.
No idea about the pledge I'm afraid (I'm actually quite new to the thread though had dipped in and out before)
My story - I put on a lot of weight with my third pregnancy, managed to lose a bit then got pregnant again and put a lot back. Miscarried at 23 weeks just before christmas and I really wanted to not look pregnant anymore so really got stuck into the weight loss. I've lost 2 stone since then and have about a stone and a half to go depending on what I set my goal at (Wii Fit recommends 11st to be BMI of 22 for my height). I'm currently studying for a Diet and Nutrition Advisor course, hence the know-it-all attitude and tendency to lecture my fellow WeightLossOldStylers (you'll get used to it!). Any questions don't hesitate to ask I'll either have an answer or point you in the way of oneJune Grocery Challenge £493.33/£500 July £/£500

Proudly admitting to two large portions of chocolate brownie cake. Totally binged on this today, but it has been in the freezer over 6 weeks, I've had no binges for ages (ok 3 pints of cider doesn't count as there's no chocolate in it!) and I do not feel at all guilty! I enjoyed it.

ohhh that chocolate brownie cake sounds so good. mr pincher usually buys me big dairy milk bar from corner shop but tonight i asked for a special k bar. he brought me a double chocolate one which was 80cals and 2g fat. it still felt like a chocolatey treat so i didnt feel too deprived. well as long as i don't dwell on the dairy milk lol it saved him a bit too as only cost 30p.
thanks for the bmr link. sadly my standard allowance is only 1300 cals!!! *sob* i really need to drum up some enthusiasm for exercise.
im so sorry about you losing your little angel at 23 weeks x0 -

Morning one and all! Well I kept to plan yesterday - apart from some extras!! I decided to make some jam yesterday morning (still a lot of bilberries in the freezer from last summer) and then I couldn't stop sampling it, smeared first on and back off crackerbread but progressed to doorsteps of toast with it spread liberally on! No hope for me is there!
I fear today and tomorrow could be disasters too! DD is back at work after maternity leave and we have 3 DGD's to look after. Today, when the eldest has gone to school, we will set off with the little ones - a bus ride to Ilkley and a walk along the riverside, some time in the playground and then up into town for a late lunch. So menu as follows:
B - porridge with raspberries
L - most diet friendly meal I find on the menu!! (OK I may not be as strong willed with a menu before me!!)
D - Tuna steak with salad & HM wedges
S - taking a bag of fruit with us!
Have a good day everybody!"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -

I left my lunch on the bus!
Luckily am almost at the end of the route, so will give it 20 mins and pop out to see if I can flag down the same driver on his way back.
Was a nice lunch too. Ham roll with loads of just-picked-this-morning salad leaves and a lovely strawberry yog. hope I get it back.

Flagged down the next bus going back the other way. Interrogated the driver - much to his and the passengers' amusement - he was the one after mine, so I missed it going back the other way.

Eltee What a bummer about your lunch, hope you get it back!
Miss Penny Pincher did you go all the way through the calculation? BMR will just give you your figure for that not taking into account ANY activity so you still need to calculate daily calorie needs and then how many calories to have to lose weight.
Example
My height it 5'10 and my weight is currently 175lb so my BMR is 1628. That's how many calories my body needs for daily functions like breathing, heating and pumping blood. Using the Harris Benedict Equation, assuming I am moderately active (which I would be when running 3 times a week) this BMR must be multiplied by 1.55 so my daily calorie needs are 2523.4. If I want to lose weight at a lb a week I would need to go down by 3500 calories a week, so 500 a day or to lose 2lb a week I'd need to go down by 1000 a day (which as I am tall and heavy my BMR is quite high that still leaves me with 1500 calories.) Do remember to recalculate your calorie needs as you lose weight because obviously they will change.
This is not exact and everyone's BMR is actually different according to their own bodies but it is very interesting to look at it like this. Trial and error and getting used to the amount YOU can eat without gaining is essential for when you reach goal and want to maintain. Hopefully these skills will come to us all in time, though it probably is as simple as only eating when you're hungry and only until you're full!
Off to Peacocks in search of some clothes that actually fit!
Must run tonight, if I don't please all berate me endlessly until I do!
Breakfast was one slice of marmite and cheese spread on toast (no butter) and some flapjack.
Should probably work out what's for dinner!June Grocery Challenge £493.33/£500 July £/£500

Morning all.
I did my weekly weigh-in a day early as I'm off on holiday tomorrow and I'm not sure if I'll have time to post before I go. And the result is... best part of 1kg off (0.9kg, to be precise).I'm not sure quite how I managed that - I don't feel I've eaten particularly well or done a great deal of exercise this week - but hey, I'm not complaining!
Today will be another odd day food-wise as I've been so efficient at eating up perishables that I'm running rather low on stuff to eat.
B - mix of granola and muesli with raisins and SS milk
L - smoked salmon sarnie on WM bread; glass of orange juice (to treat the cold which suddenly ambushed me yesterday)
S - apple
D - probably ham and pepper pizza with lettuce salad, but that might change if I find something RTC when I go shopping in a bit
Exercise - hopefully some gardening as there's a few things that need doing before I go away, but the sky's currently very threatening-looking so I'm not sure how much I'll get to do between the showers.
Eltee - what a shame about your lunch - that's so annoying when that happens, isn't it? (I've done it before, too!)
TA - your jam sounds intriguing. I've never tried bilberries - I'll have to keep an eye out for them later in the year and try making my own pot of bilberry jam.
ragz - I'm glad you enjoyed your cake. We all need a treat sometimes, don't we?Back after a very long break!0 -
