1st of May today - I am so skint at the minute, DH doesn't have a job anymore (we had his last pay last week), and I'm still overweight, with about 16lbs left to lose
.
I can't afford to pay and weigh at a slimming club so I have spent the last hour or so reading this thread and making notes of recipes. I'm going to weigh myself now, and am subscribing to this thread. I rarely post everyday but will write down my eats in my spending/planning notebook.
I'm determined to shift the weight the OS way, and look forward to following this thread with you all.

Katylou6180, I have this pocket size book
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Gi-Guide-Rick-Gallop/dp/0753511762/ref=sr_1_19?ie=UTF8&qid=1304235007&sr=8-19
...or just type this authors name in, there are loads of books by him.
This plan works for me as it has taught me about health and balanced eating for life, with no counting. It has also improved the health of my family. I still rebel from time to time but thats down to me. Also the nhs website has given me loads of info on what is low/med/high in fats/sugars/salt etc, making food labels easier to understand,
http://www.nhs.uk/LiveWell/Loseweight/Pages/Loseweighthome.aspx
Planning is where I let myself down, but working on that. Good luck, you will find something that works for youHealthy eating aim per day: 3 fruits, 3 or more vegetables, 3 low-fat dairy portions, 3 starch portions, 2-3 lean protein portions.
Weekly aim: to include 2 portions of fish (one oily), some nuts, seeds, beans and pulses.0 -
I haven't posted in many months and to my shame am now over a stone more that in my sig and I thought I was bad then. Am on holiday in July and sorely want to fit my clothes and maybe buy one or two new items. I know I must exercise but hate it. Use to swim so will look into doing that again.
Am veggie so if anyone has any good recipes using beans for protein would love to share. Mostly cook from scratch and don't eat as much c**p as some but still the pounds pile on. Rarely drink, but love choc and crisps. and butter spread thick. and mayo. hate low fat versions tell myself will eat a little of the real thing or nothing but never get "little" right.
Making veggie lasgane for diner. Lunch will be salad, bfast was fruit and fibre cereal.WL 11 st 5lb as at 050109. 160209 11st 2lb

procrastinator - I'm very partial to dhal (lentil curry) and veggie chilli, which I make with red lentils and mixed beans - in fact I'm very partial to lentils in just about any form!
Good luck to everyone making a new start today.
Today hasn't been brilliant but I don't think it's so bad that it'll do me any real harm (at least I hope not as my jeans are just starting to feel a bit less tight :j):
Brunch - three thin slices of HM brown bread with a scraping of butter, smoked cheese and ham (a sort of continental breakfast); apple
Snack - a few bits nibbled while walking round a farmers' market (including a garlic clove in chilli marinade  - the lesson there is to check what the stallholder has given you before biting into it!)
Dinner - meatball, courgette and chickpea stew with LF garlic bread; glass of wine
Exercise - walked the mile and a bit down to the common, spent a couple of hours mooching round the market, then walked back with a bag of shopping.Back after a very long break!0 -
First day of month (new start!) gone well (so far!!)
B Porridge with berry topping
L Chicken breast (in Mango marinade) grilled, big salad and a few tiny new potatoes. Sugar free jelly, small sliced banana and FF yogurt topping.
T (light tea as lunch was late) HM soup and ham salad sandwich (in thin sliced bread!)
Have decided to have a few days over at our caravan from tomorrow and usually do a good amount of walking whilst there. That may help a bit, though I have just read an article saying that steady walking does no good whatsoever, you need to walk briskly enough to break out in a sweat for it to do any good for weight loss!! What!"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -
Wish I'd read this BEFORE breakfast. Does anyone else eat things rather than throw them out? A big crust with low cholestrol spread and marmalade for me this morning:eek::o I have to keep telling myself that it's better to put it in the bin than look like one...
You lot are an inspiration, thank you:A
I'll start again, as you say, it's a new month (and summer is getting closer, hate wearing baggy tops to hide the fat!)
Good luck to all of us, this is the month that we are really going to hit the big numbers! No excuses as the weather is better for getting out and MOVING! Of course, this is a pep talk for me but if anyone else wants to join in.:DThe beautiful thing about learning is nobody can take it away from you.
Thanks to everyone who contributes to this wonderful forum. I'm very grateful for the guidance and friendliness that I always receive from you.

I have a carrot and chickpea curry recipe that is lovely, and made it this week using berlotti beans as I didn't have a can of chickpeas here and it was still lovely. Let me know if you'd like me to post the recipe up.
I think I did quite well yesterday - I wrote down everything I ate, had three decent meals and stopped myself from drinking beer last night (although did sucumb to a small amount of chocolate). I now need to plan in 3 x exercise sessions each week. I was doing aerobics twice a week which I loved but haven't been for a few weeks, so am determined to go twice this week. Am also going to do 30 mins on my x trainer this morning, I need to build this back up to at least twice a week.
Hope everyone has a good day

Hi all,
Yesterday wasn't too bad although I did have a few beers before going to the match, doesn't that count as liquid lunch
Today I'm hoping for a good day but I'm also trying to use up stuff from the freezer in anticipation of the vegetable mountain that will soon descent from FIL's allotment. So I'm hoping what I plan to throw together isn't too bad!
B/L: Baguette with light cream cheeseHM steak and ale pie (beef stew with a pastry lid), braised red cabbage, steamed carrots and peas
S: Poached rhubarb and yoghurt
I also plan to make a banana loaf but its for OH's lunches so I must resist0 -
Walked around town for a couple of hours, though from what "TravellingAbuela" says this will have done no good for weight loss but at least I wasn't stuck indoors.
Lunch today will be L/O lasagne and veg.
Diner - thanks for the curry tips but I'm useless at this. will keep trying. I love the dahl you buy from takeaway buy never been able to make it myself. One bad choice today, won't list it but I know it.WL 11 st 5lb as at 050109. 160209 11st 2lb
