I find the Boots weight loss site to be a good one for calorie counting. Even if I try to eat old style healthy foods I can eat my body weight (which is rather substantial!) in potatoes or bread etc, so I'm going to give calorie counting a go. I tried SW for two weeks and didn't lose a lb so am not impressed with that diet. Trying https://www.bootsdiets.com within the framework of old style health eating

    welcome to the newbies.
Cooking-Mama - I found sticking to a set limit quite hard so I worked out what I had been eating on average and then reduced it from there. I always count calories and bought some digital scales so I could accuratly weigh the portions - amazing how much spread I used to put on toast without realising it!

Allie23 - I tried eating a banana as I left work / on the journey home and found that stopped me raiding the cupboards when I got in. you need about 15-20 mins to start feeling full after a snack and so raiding the cupboards was fatal as I'd just carry on eating :o

    Yesterday:
B 1 slice of toast with 100g beans (half a small can)
L: soup and slice of bread
S: sweeties from the charity thing in receiption :o
S: bag of crisps and chunk of cheese (ooh this is getting worse!)
D: 3 chicken fajitias with peppers, onions, mushroom and salsa
glass of wine (well it rounded off the day!)

    Today:
    B: 2 slices toast with l/f spread & toppings
    S: crisps
    L: ham salad sandwich
S: donut from colleges birthday cakes
S: I have an orange that is somehow less appealing than the donut :rotfl:
    D: mince in some form

Hope you are all doing better than me!
  • Thanks for the advice mlz1413, I will give it a try. Have weighed myself now and am 15 stone 1lb. It has finally stopped raining so am going to head out for my walk.

I feel like i've stalled, i've lost a dress size so far this year but the scales are refusing to budge below the stone mark!! grrr. So in a strop i ate 6 mini doughnuts with my cuppa when i got home... (frozen aisle 16 mini doughnuts for 10p, shouldn't have bought them really but bargain!)

So i've added walking to work everyday into my routine, it's about a 40 min walk and hopefully this will help me.

Hi Bramble, haven't we all done the doughnut revenge thing? and don't you feel awful afterwards? I had bacon and egg yesterday because the bacon had to be used up and it was an awful, miserable day...:( A great excuse eh? Never mind, today is a new day...
You were losing a lot at the beginning of the year so maybe you are just settling down a bit?
I take the attitude that it isn't going to happen quickly and if I deny myself something it builds up to a binge. That's my excuse any way;)
Welcome newbies and stick in there everyone:)

Lu - nice fresh ham salad roll from the bakers

D - chicken, HM potato wedges, feta salad

Walking - Already done 30 mins :A. popping out lunchtime, so another 10/15 mins mooching around town.

    Thursday
    B - porridge & dried fruit
    Sn - yogurt
lu - jacket p with sour cream & chive jollops (needs eating), lettuce & tomato

Hi Eltee - I've not suffered from indigestion but could it be your eating the cumpets too quickly and therefore taking in air?

I sometimes suffer from eating too quickly and it can leave me with a lump feeling - think of thisimages?q=tbn:ANd9GcSjDMbcXtH8A_iTZGUTzcvuGsaLq8kaa8RUrwyo4vVFouWM0beG8QqTmFA9
could you toast one at a time and see if that helps?

    Hi all

Had my weigh in at slimming class last night.

Lost half a pound. I was eating too much bread on Monday and Tuesday to have a significant weight loss so my master plan now is to record everything on here to see if that will make a difference.

Breakfast: half a slice of bread toasted and three fish fingers with tomato sauce.
Lunch: three slices of bread from a small loaf with tuna and very low fat mayonnaise. I know there is a theme here - tooooo much bread - so I will make a proper dinner tonight. I have a cabbage, some spuds, (to make that stuff that we make around Christmas with left over veg) sweetcorn and bacon and no treats or pink and whites at the most.

Hugs to all who need them, lovely people xxx

Hi mlz - assume you mean toast the crumpets one at a time, not the creature from the deep!:rotfl:

anyhoo, yes crumpets duly toasted one at a time. Have had indigestion problems with certain foods for some time now, so have finally faced up to it and been cutting them out. Unfortunately this includes my beloved love-it-or-hate-it yeast extract - which I used to love having on crumpets !!!!!!!!

    Bah!
