7g is the weight on the single packets of yeast you see. I find they work for a typical 750g of flour bread recipe. 1 packet even worked the 1st time I made weezl's double batch (1.5kg flour) using WHITE flour, but was NOT enough when I did 50/50 wholemeal/white. I'm using double the yeast this time which should hopefully solve the problem
.
So for something like pizza dough, those 7g packets are fine...top 2013 wins: iPad, £50 dental care, £50 sportswear, £50 Nectar GC, £300 B&Q GC; jewellery, Bumbo, 12xPringles, 2xDiesel EDT, £25 Morrisons, £50 Loch Fyne

Loving the sig potty lol!
weezl Going to do it with potatoes and carrot sticks. Thanks for the other info. Carrots are really reasonable price wise...I'll have to remember that.0 -
Hi all!
Have really missed being involved with the thread but have been reading along when I get chance. My laptop now has a new hard drive and I have paid an extortionate amount of money to a very nice man to get my photos etc off my old one (it was a technical issue, not something I could have done myself without specialist equipment and what price can you put on all those memories? £199 plus VAT apparently!)
So, I am back on board! Anything recipe-like to test?God is good, all the time

oooh fab! there's a recipe for 2 types of loaf on the blog. but if you're making 1 loaf rather than 4 don't quarter the amount of yeast... still use around10g cos there's a minimum amount with yeast that if you fall below it it can't get off the ground...:) you prob knew that already!
ok so for 2 people, please try:
half a can of mushies
1 apple grated with as little core left as poss
1 little onion chopped and fried in a dessertspoon of the rapeseed.
salt, pepper, garam masala, garlic and enough water to bring it all to a nice thick soupy consistency
As aless wisely noted, more of a list of ingredients than a recipe :rotfl:
quick update as I just gave OH good news that I've been offered a job and am flat hunting - ps. if anyone knows of anyone that has a place to rent near cardiff central train station or pontyclun please pm me - lunch went down well on the whole.
Pea soup, not sure what portion sizes were to be like with consistency, we normally have about 2/3rds of a can of soup each (by guess at volume as I don't have canned soups generally, I use them for sauces and stocks when lazy) so I tried to make this up with water after adding all the ingredients and I think it went a bit runny personally. We only have cheap mushy peas so that prob wouldn't have helped.
Bread, made as listed above, yeast seemed sluggish and didn't want to do much, didn't rise very well and seems a little heavy to taste, but edible and fine with soup - wouldn't make good sandwiches as a bit thick/chewy? Could just be me.Almost everything will work again if you unplug it for a few minutes, including you. Anne Lamott
It's amazing how those with a can-do attitude and willingness to 'pitch in and work' get all the luck, isn't it?
Please consider buying some pet food and giving it to your local food bank collection or animal charity. Animals aren't to blame for the cost of living crisis.0 -

congrats ariarnia, and I shall text lots of friends.
One couple have a 1 bed flat on the market, I estimate it's a 7 min walk from cardiff central station.
the layout of the flat is a little strange, DH and I were thinking about it last night...
The couple selling are very good friends of mine, so I have some keys from when I go round to check the washing machine is ok etc...
It's here if you'd like a lookie, but the agent is a bit rubbish, so I'd be happy to tell the vendors direct if you prefer!
embarrassingly I did the kitchen tiling and built the worktop so if you think it's disgraceful then maybe just make an excuse :rotfl:

now then back to the soup. Well after all that yeast I'm sad you didn't get a rise out of itat the end, how far above the top of your loaf pan had it come?
pea soupwise, was the flavour good enough at that dilution, ie I only need to thicken, or do I need more flavour as well?
Which type of peas did you use?
Sorry if your lunch wasn't nice

Sounds like you have done loads! Particularly impressed with potty for all the survey-ness and you and Lesley and others for the crazy intricacies of the spreadsheet! I think it is amazing how this little thread has become this massive undertaking and you are still cheerful and bright and responding to everyone so nicely! You must be pleased how well it is all coming together
Am thinking I could try the spanish omelette if you want? Or one of the soups? Or the bacon turnovers?
Or something completely differentGod is good, all the time
