DH suggested calling it a slice or a strudel or something because cake texture is hard to replicate without egg, do you think that would work?

I think that's a great idea. We have now eaten about half of our eggless apple cake with custard and would definitely liken it to an apple strudel rather than a cake. :)

I think this is totally the way forward with all out not quite successes! We just rebrand them, and turn a flaw into a feature! :rotfl:

We often eat the Spanish omelette with the ingredients listed, except no cheese (I can't eat it) - it's long been on our list of standard meals. I quite often cook extra potatoes with the day before's meal, then use those. It works well with pretty much whatever veg is around too, so great for using up leftovers. We have it with a small salad. Perhaps Shirl could get a packet of those cut and come again salad leaves and grow her own?

So, the onion tart tatin doesn't need to be vegan then? I am a little confused too. It is for one of the other plans, can it use marge? Shall I try half with pastry and half with a scone base? I mean 2 smaller tarts! :)

    sorry sian :)

It can feature in planner 2 with butter and oil in the pastry but no balsamic, or in planner 3 with oil in the pastry and balsamic...

    Clear as mud? :rotfl:

this thread is hilarious, we need to rename it: 'bonkers pregnant woman leads lovely friends on a merry dance :)'

edit: planner 2 is veggie not vegan but no leftover money for the balsamic. Is that the bit I hadn't spelt out? x

Coolio. Got it. I think I was on the right kind of track in my head. So... I am thinking tart tatin with onions in balsamic for the vegans. Only now I have not a clue how to make the pastry vegan? Eek, help. Or shall I just make pastry and assume that we can work out the vegan type later if it works?

The other version, with no balsamic might be nice with a sconey base? Will try that one too.

We'd have to say 'adorable bonkers pregnant woman' but apart from that, I like that title!

Bought some ready brek type stuff from the shops too, not sure why people don't like it, seems fairly harmless to me :)
