Just catching up. Just made myself a cup of tea and have used 12ml of milk in, two teaspoons and an accidental dribble. However, I do drink between 8 and 12 cuppas a day. DP only drinks coffee, he probably has 5 or 6 cups a day and would probably use double the amount of milk I have in my tea. I have asked him to measure his next cup of coffee, he thinks I've gone weird

here the original recipe for raisin oat bars

    http://www.marthastewart.com/recipe/oatmeal-raisin-bars

I used oil instead of butter and just 3/4 cup of sugar in total, I made with sp oats. I also cut into 20 bars rather than 16. Hope it helps...

Weezle I have just had a look at what foods contain magnesium and it seems the diet is adequate. Beans, cornmeal, seeds, oats and milk all contain good amounts and if a dark green veg, cabbage or broccolli is served then that would be great. other things like potatoes contain smaller amounts but still add up well. Maybe they could grow spinach in a pot?
How many apples are spare? I was wondering if slightly heating the oil in a pan with the sugar might help the oats to absorb more oil and even a couple of tablespoons or so of water and some grated apple? I might try that on Monday and see if it works.

yay! I missed this earlier, thanks Gisi :) (I posted on the PT:o)

frankie and Gisi, shall we all try white sugar, and re oil, some vegan sites suggest using 80% of the weight of oil that the butter/marg would have been....

That should be about right Weezl, as I think butter/marg are about 80% fat. I found the twinks to be quite sweet, so maybe you could lose a bit of the sugar?

goodness me! i have milky tea compared to everyone else!! i didn't do survey for coffee as only have that very occasionally but have it same as my great aunt - half warmed milk and half hot water with one spoon of coffee  by the way the one spoon of coffee is for a 'normal' mug for my super big mug i use two spoons of coffee!

oh weezl i will really b***er up your results if i put that in!!!

mind you i do have to say that due to financial circumstances i have cancelled milkman and bought Mr M 6 x 1 litre semi skimmed uht and it is fine on my shreddies and in my tea!

have also bought powdered milk for emergencies and kept one milk bottle from milkman as i think in part it is psycholigical (sp?) as my dad was a milkman when i was little and i LOVE fresh milk!

i am also happy (at work) to have coffeemate in my coffee - just using up my 'proper stuff' (which was reduced) and will try supermarket's own in a week or so :)

    loki x
it's nice to be important but more important to be nice!! :kisses3:

dp reports that he uses 3 tablespoons of mile, i.e. 45ml in his coffee. I am astounded

we use semi skim by the way - although I usually have skim at work where I drink most of my tea (probably use 15ml when using skim to get same colour tea).

doing well with the costs of meals, but I have just worked out that the 4 portions of fruit I have a day cost about 60p - eeek

It's looking likely to be £1.50pppd if I have roughly the pence per meal on this plan, plus the fresh fruit, but I have yet to add in the fresh veg we have with dinners, about 3x80g each

I'll carry on and see where I end up, it's finding it an interesting exercise

Aye... I should have made one of the questions, what type of milk is used :o
I did think about it, and was going to include it .... but somehow I got side tracked :( So it was not included.
Never mind, I hope the results are useful none the less. :)

I'm still working away in the background updating the surveys... so I will be back later, hopefully with some links :)

Ohhhhh.... and my new signature seems to work... best crack on then eh ? ;)

I've managed to insert some of the info but I have some more questions... :o

    (a) Your calcium list includes 5 things that are not on the mealplanner spreadsheet. (Cheese mature, plain flour, milk powder, spinach and sesame seeds) Do you want these added to the stock checker tab along with values?
    (b) are the kidney beans dried or canned?
    (c) are the potatoes going to be used peeled or with their skins?
    (d) is vegetable oil the same as canola oil?
    (e) what is the difference between the veg oil and the raw veg oil in the stock checker?
    (f) do you want all the nutrient info inputted or just the calorie, protein
    and calcium info for now?
    (g) I'm using recipecal for values - is this ok? Its a bit of a guess as to which variation of the foods to use.
    (h) Does anyone know if frozen sweetcorn/cauliflower/peas/green beans are frozen raw or cooked? The values are different! - should I presume they are cooked as this is how they will be eaten on this planner I think?
    (i) What you say you are using in the stockchecker isn't necessarily what is on the shopping list.
    (j) do you want values for the items that are currently listed but with a 0 for amounts eg honey, walnuts, lemon juice, beetroot etc?

Sorry for the 1001 questions. :o

I'll be back probably teatime tomorrow as I'm off doing mothering sunday stuff till then... Is anyone likely to be around tomorrow evening if I need some recipecal help? (I'm copying each ingredient from recipecal and pasting it into an individual tab of a spreadsheet - but its taking ages to find each thing on recipecal... and we have ~40 ingredients! I've only managed to do 13 so far... :rotfl:).

Right time for a meander round here then bed I think! :D
