Hi just had the above and details as follows for 2 people
300g pots 0.33
1 finely sliced onion 0.06
100g sweetcorn 0.09
s&p 0.01
1 teasp chilli 0.02
2 eggs 0.09
splash milk
60p in total or 30p per person
I served this with the croatian salad which in all honesty made it too much potatoes in one meal. Ex gave both 7/10 i give 8/10 for both very filling meal and very tasty would both be happy to have it again prob with a green salad. Ex didnt even complain that there was no meat so must have been good:)0 -
I made an oatmeal raisin bar with 2 cups oats, 3/4 cup of oil, 3/4 cup sugar, 1 cup pl flour and 1 cup raisins - had a nice texture - like a soft cookie rather than a flapjack if thats any use to you - was a traybake rather than cookies but been a hit with my kids so far - was an adaptation (less sugar) of a martha stewart recipe and I can post a link to the original if you think it might be a possibility for the planner....

I really think things are going well now guys.
Bob and shirley can be test driven v soon, and the other 2 planners won't take too much tweakery and already have had some testing and research done.
Marvelous work!
We started this on 6th Feb.
I can't believe how much we've all done.
All credit to you all for grasping this peculiar vision and choosing to run with it with me.
I'm really touched and I very much enjoy being a community/team with you

Managed to make the spicy vegan rissoles in the end. They were very tasty. The texture/mouthfeel was grainy however, this might be because I used polenta instead of cornmeal. Also I had to abandon it without the oil and carrot and come back to it an hour later to finish! They were slightly sloppy, maybe because I used the top half of a can of beans I had too much liquid! Or it could just be me abadoning it half way though making them. I only fried 4, have shaped the rest of the mixture to cook on Monday. Will freeze some also. Oh I used 1 tbsp of yeast extract instead of the stock for the b12 etc as arranged. Don't know how to post a picture, so just loaded it on my blog.
Also made the shortbread without the lemon, cooked for 45 mins. Turned out too hard and very sweet. I am not used to cooking with so much sugar however. Perhaps I should of took out after 40 even though they still seemed a bit soft. However they will get eaten, so all is not lost.
WILL BUY SOME CORNMEAL AND TRY AGAIN ON THE RISSOLES, AS THE FLAVOUR IS VERY GOOD.

thanks Lesley that's really interesting. Do you have a price per day you're aiming at if you don't mind me asking?
I'm intrigued that this lovely team we have here seem to have quite different non-negotiables than the wider surveyed population.
I wonder why that is?
I picked a really unpopular answer in the poll, I noticed. I wonder what that's all about!
I started off thinking, hmm I could eat that food, but I would want to add fresh f+v, wonder how much extra that would cost. So started working it out. After seeing just how much extra it is starting to work out to be, I am fitting in dishes that cost as close as I can get to 40p for a dinner etc, but adding f+v and seeing what happens to the budget. I also started keeping track of the food element of what I spend separate from the household, toiletries etc. If I can do it for £2 pppd I would be pleased, £1.50 and I would be very happy, and if by any miracle I got it below that I would be ecstatic0 -

Just "clicked to" that comment of yours - is this vegetarian? I'd certainly be interested to see a copy of this anyway if its something you have "on line":)
I need to add several more meals yet, but I'm getting there. We eat vegetarian about half of the time, if not more. I'll add it to Googledocs when I've done a bit more0 -
Just had a look at the bread recipe, must buy some bread flour to try them. They look so good and no doubt the walnut one wouldn't stay around for long.
I've got allison easy bake yeast in 7g sachets, is this ok to use or is it the one that comes in a tin?
Thanks
Sandra

I'm giving the 'golden syrup' a go as we speak! I'll let you know ...lol0

well I've now measured the volume of all my various sized bread tins and I've got
1 x non-stick 1200ml - so that one is the right size
1 x non-stick 1800
1 old metal one 800ml
1 old metal one 1500 ml
1 old metal one 2500 ml
so I am currently tempted to get some silicone ones to have 4 all the right size. I can make good pizza, rolls and focaccia, but am still having trouble with the loaves and I think it might be the tin size. Still at least I know which one to use to experiment with now0
