I am a bit sleepy now. Wine plus the highest dose of mirtazepine, seen grown men keel over on a third of the dose.

Avocet, with 2 batches of carrot cake made and the zest of 3 oranges used for the garibaldis, how much of the bag of oranges do we have left, inclusive of the peel? I'm wondering about asking for a test of a possible HM marmalade

Also, just realised I am very short of dried peas for all I'm expecting of them. One American site suggests 454g dry weight peas per 4 person serving of soup, which would mean I'm about 3kg short with the risi e bisi as well EEEEEEEEEEEK! Does your maths agree with that?:)

could someone have a look at this soup and rejig it using our list, so we can have a bash at testing it?

oops forgot to say lovely DH's 2nd point:

because I have specifically said this meal planner must be healthy, I think when a lot of you are making it you are keeping a weather eye to oil and sugar content and to keeping them low. Thank you :)

This is very valid with a plentiful diet and perhaps if Bob/Shirley need to lose a few pounds.

However, I'm concerned that there must be at least the amount of calories each day for weight maintenance for Bob and Shirley, and for healthy growth for the kids. If we leave out the sugar and oil from cakes, we may be doing Shirley's waistline a favour, but we are robbing her DS of the energy to perform at school IYSWIM?

So in summary: the diet aims to be healthy, and also must contain enough energy so the family don't lose weight (unless they want to- by skipping the garibaldis :))

revisiting the healthy parameters of post #3:

    define healthy?

7 of the NHS 5 a day (think we are just below this now, but need to do more maths.)
sufficient fibre (anyone fancy doing some research on RDA fibre and having a look at an example day?)
avoidance where possible of harmful transfats (feel we have managed to avoid these altogether with the possible exception of the asda smart price stuffing mix)
enough protein and carbohydrate to sustain health and maintain weight (Carbs, checked and fine-may need more biscuits for the boys, less for the girls, Protein- needs analysis but suspect good as there are lots of pulses and some meat, cheese, egg and teeny bit of milk daily. Also nut butter)
enough vitamins and minerals for health
(Assuming this is coming from the 5 a day, but not sure if that's true of the 5 a day research...needs researching....)

A word or two about variety, and then I shall do some research about a birth pool and type up fergie's day planner for if he is being looked after in an emergency. (totally off topic, but will reassure Aunties Ceridwen and ISOM that I am indeedy not neglecting myself whilst persuing the challenge)

    Variety:

DH heard a radio 4 report which showed that the average person knows and follows 9 recipes. When you think that at least one may be a special occasion meal (christmas lunch?) and another 1-2 possibly a pudding/cake type thing. That means that shirley average probably has 5-6 meals she knows and cooks on a regular basis.

A lot of you are fantastic old-stylers with creativity and flair in your cooking, but I wonder if this is the norm?

I think the meal planner may already contain more recipes than Shirley might want to learn:eek:, and I also feel it represents good variety.:D

I don't mean this defensively:), I genuinely want to know if that isn't the case, but am currently more worried about not bamboozling shirley with the variety rather than that the family may find the diet to bland or samey.

    What do people think?

    xxx
