AQE Exam Results

Well I went to see the headmaster on Thursday morning with news of the remark - in all his years at the school dealing with 11-plus he has never known a pupils grade to increase!!
Had to phone the pupil and parent line at the board, they told me to write to them with details of the change in mark and they would pass on to our 1st preference school.
Phoned AQE and eventually after a few hours of trying I got through, I asked what I need to do with my remark result, the girl sounded surprised that the mark had gone up so I think out of the people that were phoning AQE office that day I was one of only a few whose marks went up!!! Got passed on to a man who advised that the schools had been informed by AQE of the remark scores but he advised that I also write to the schools myself!! Not terribly confident that the process in place is going to work!!
He advised that he hadn't said (included any info with remark sheet) but I would get my money back, just waiting on cheques from accountants!!! Wonder how long that will take!
Didn't question them on why we got an increase, was just thankful that we had and they aren't taking it away from us!!
Lisburn mum 2 - I don't think you are a bad parent in not asking for a remark - we had nothing to lose and everything to gain - we were sitting at the bottom of the 4th quintile so not hopeful of a grammar school place - if I was at the top of the 4th quintile where you are I don't know that I would have asked either.0 -
Stanjnr, WOT!!!! you have to write to the schools yourself!. You should get a grammar place just for the hassel! Seriously though, I do hope that your child does get into grammar.
Also, a couple of years back a remark was done for a child I know and the grade was raised from a B1 to an A.0 -
Thanks for that Stanjnr! I did contact AQE as I was punishing myself and they informed me that only 6 children got awarded higher marks, 5 - 1 mark and 1 - 2 marks - so well done you!
I am not going to follow this thread anymore as I am becoming obsessed! I am questioning everything!!!!!
Hopefully we all get what we want for our children and that come September they are all happy with their schools and their experience will be good! Good luck everyone!0 -
Brill - I'm chuffed that we benefited most out of the remark, let's hope it makes a difference.
I didn't like to ask when I phoned last week, was taking my 2 points and running in case they changed their minds!!!!0 -

I don't care what I'm forking out if I get the pleasure of buying a Grosvenor uniform. :rotfl::rotfl:
I drive past it everyday and say a silent prayer as I pass those brand new gates.
Awe well only 10 weeks and 4 days until we are all put out of our misery or even worse plunged into deeper misery. :eek:0 -

Well I hope its a wool blazer not like the polyester Larne grammar ones. Seriously though, has anyone ever seen or felt the polyester ones that most of the secondary schools have? They give me the heebie geebies!!! Why do the secondary schools do polyester and the grammar wool? I know that the polyester ones are more practical as they can be washed, plus the kids don't go around smelling like sheep when it rains like the kids who wear the wool ones, but I just would not like to be wearing polyester all day YUCK!!! Do they think that secondary school kids are messier or something :rotfl:!!!! Anyone care to discuss the pros/cons and merits of the differing blazer fabrics? :rotfl:0
