[I have thought about sending extra payments to the DMP (they will only be small amounts £20/30 but does anyone know if this will annoy CCCS or the creditors who will say I can afford more. This extra will only be if I can sell stuff on ebay and therefore not predictable or regular money. I would be grateful of any pointers.

I have also thought about the possibility of sending extra payments.

Will do as advised by WG and save to repay a debt in full

    Thanks again WG :A

I have learnt my lesson too - just a shame it was a trifle late........!

I have decided that I will try and over pay my mortgage a little bit as it is also huge. It is not clear how I can do this as my orginal morgage was sold on and I have been given conflicting information from the new company.

Told a) penalty payment 2k until 26/08/06 - ok can cope with this won't overpay until after this - need time to get used to DMP anyway.
    b) New Company stated that can only pay in lumps of £500 but also state that interest would not change until March. Confused does this mean that payment will only change in March/April or that extra payments will only be credited in March.....
    c) She also stated that previous mortgage terms would still be in place - I can remember asking for the mortgage tohave the ability to overpay when took out original mortgage but can't find terms and conditions. - Confused which terms can I follow for overpayments.....

Can anyone give me a bit of advise please?

  • Well hallo everybody...

Is everyone up and about on the sunny ....er no... cloudy Sunday morning.

I have to list a few ebay items that the computer refused to co-operate on last night - go slow - freezing that sort of annoying habit it has, so early start for me.

It won't be a no spend day for me today, I have to take DS to Tesco to get last bits before he goes to France tomorrow. Oh hum.... will save his dinner money next week though!

Also have to pack, which means doing more ironing - yuk.

Then I have to persaude DS to cut the lawn before he goes - tried yesterday but he claimed it was too hot, will try again today and see what excuse he comes up with!! Teenagers - can I sell mine...... I could pay it off my debt..... oh now there's an idea!

Hope you all have a fun and spend free day.....

    Hi MTCATK

I have recently had my lightbulb moment too and am in the process of trying to pay everything. My friend said that it's like going teetoal after being an alcoholic - "you're no longer in denial".

Just a tip about eBay - try downloading their Turbo Booster which makes life so much easier when listing things as you can pre-set some fields so if you always use Gallery (as I do) then you don't have to keep clicking it. It is a LOT easier to use.

Hang in there - everyone is very friendly and supportive on here. Have you tlooked on the other threads for freebies and one tells you about vouchers/coupons for Days Out? I don't have any children (but I do have a cat!) and I have noticed that there are often offers for children espeically this time of year.

Hang in there and think of the future.

    Hiya,
well done for taking the first step.
Other posters are right, let them worry about the debts. Congratulate yourself and feel empowered for taking action.
You are calling the shots on your terms.
Keep it going, and good diary BTW.I really must start my own properly when my hectic worklife calms down.
  • Hi Hourglass

I totally agree with you - not spending does feel like withdrawal symptoms but I suspect I will become like a reformed smoker and be very down on my spending habits if you know what I mean. (not explaining myself very well today - you know how some people who have given up smoking become very anti smoking in general - well give up spending and later become such a DFW that bargin hunt at all possiblities and refuse to pay extra for anything.....)

Anyway thanks for the tip about Turbo lister - I only found it yesterday and it is soooooo much easier than listing the old way. I have listed more items last night and today than in the whole of June. Here's hoping I sell some of it as I want to start paying extra off my debt.

  • Hi everyone.....

McBirnie - As you say - must stay positive - say it again - must stay positive.......

Has anyone got any advise on the questions asked about over paying morgage - OP was yesterday on this thread....

Would be very grateful for any advise please.

On the positive side (see I am getting better!) I have listed 14 items on ebay - not one sold yet - still there is time - just a tad worried that I have spent the money listing and will not make that back let alone any more.

Hope you all have had a good day.

Just wanted to say HI! You sound v.busy...do pace yourself a bit! In my first 2 months I was non stop & literally exhausted; realise now that this is a long haul venture so need to even out a bit! Just to warn you ebay seems a bit slow at the moment...prob summer & people doing car boots instead...

If you can, wait nearer Christmas. Christmas is always busy.
