Lie-ins and children

My ex used to think he was a martyr by giving me a lie in...but had to be up by 9.30. Is really annoying when you are promised a much wanted lie-in but really all he did was make breakfast and wait 20mins before wanting his gold star.
My mum gave me a lie in once and I didnt surface until 2pm, lol.0 -
i tell you what annoys me though...
me and the ex (about 12 maybe even 13... 14 years ago in pre child days) both used to work very long hours, 6 days a week, we arranged to have the same day off so we might actually get to see each other! so on our ONE day off we would lie in until we fancied getting up, catching up on all the sleep (and other stuff) that we would miss in the rest of our busy week so it would usually be about 12 o clock before we surfaced...
my mother still... STILL makes comments about this, "i was thinking of coming round on wednesday about 9.30, will you be up?"
I have a 9 year old and a 2 year old... who on earth does she think gets them up, does the school run? etc
"well i thought you liked to lay in til half the day is gone"
yeah... you find me someone who can do that with 2 young kids!!! stupid woman.0 -
Could you schedule the days out for when it is your turn to have a lie in, if you don't mind getting up at 9 ish, and on his lie ins either do something with the kids on your own first thing and then something together in the afternoon?
I think the amount of goodwill a couple of extra hours sleep creates will mean that everyone has a much nicer weekend, whether you get as much done or not.0
